I was hoping for a bump to 70% but Ill take what I can get. I was at 50, filed for tinnitus back in november. They denied me right off the bat, saying I refused my exam, that was never made.... Submitted a request for another exam in December and got it this month! That damn long for an appointment. Just checked my stuff, and it went through and bumped me up to 60.

Still waiting on the 10-24 month waiting period for them to go back and look at my back rating, which isnt even properly diagnosed... Hopefully they'll get that straight and get my rating up. Hurts me 98% of the time to even sit down, can barely get shoes on... all at the ripe age of 30!

Wow, wonder if they just fill in the blanks on some computer screen so they get to go home early. Refused your exam indeed.
And they want to force government healthcare for all of us, except for the politicians.

I checked it a few weeks after making the claim and it was "Not service connected" I got ahold of my Rep. And they called back saying the VA denied me because I chose not to go to my c&p exam. I about flipped my lid. I said WHAT DAMN APPOINTMENT AND WHY WOULD I FILE A CLAIM THEN NOT GO?!

Idiots. I swear. It's a damn shame that myself, along with everyone else serves/served this country and get this kind of medical treatment from the Gov.

Ive been going for my back for almost 7 years with very little lead way. Enough to get a rating but they havent figured out what's wrong. As soon as i get insurance this year through my work, Im going to a private doctor to get answers, then will relay all the documents to the VA.

And right there is the answer. We institute term limits first then we elect wounded vets to congress for one term and then we give them the lifetime salary and free health care for life now enjoyed by congress critters. Oh the one term is so we can get a new batch in every so often.

In 2005 i was separated @ 20%. 10% tinnitus and 10% back pain. I was at 10 years in E6...

It 2017 i submitted a ebenifit's claim on my own and jumped a damn good bit.

I am going to hold out a few years now and will refile with this company.

https://vetsguardian.com/

I have 6 co-workers who all went to 100% using that team.

If i was you, call them this week.

I ruptured my left eardrum pretty bad back in ‘88 while doing some blasting. I’ve had issues ever since not to mention the documented hearing loss and tinnitus in both ears. For 3o years I never filed a claim until this year, at the urging of my wife. The issues with my left ear have increased 10-fold in the past 5 years, the worst of which is balance issues. I don’t have to explain the long term issues with severe tinnitus to those that have it. Anyway, Uncle Sam said no-go on my claim stating “although it is highly likely that your hearing loss was caused by your service, it is unlikely that it was made progressively worse by it”. WTF, over??

What you need to have now is a letter from a doctor.

The link I posted above, just go see them. Trust me, its worth it.

In the same boat with this right now

Problem is getting a doctor who will give an opinion. Most I've encountered/seen flatly refuse.

BINGO; they basically don’t want to get in the middle of it for liability reasons like they’re going to get dragged into court

Or in my case, there are very few neuro docs around here and each one of them sees VA referrals $$$$$$

True.
I got very lucky in that I have had the same doctor since I was 17.
He is brutally honest, and a good guy.
But he has the benefit of knowing me before and after my military service

So is you that enjoys the last 20 + years of a hernia check?

I'm lucky in having Tricare & being close to UNC & Duke. Access to great healthcare is awesome, but even the good docs are leery of stating an opinion. I'll be contacting the folks @JBoyette recommended shortly. Back's already service connected (along with knees & ankles) & additional issues have arisen since. Fortunately, I've got all my pertinent parachutist paperwork together & regular documentation of back issues. My chiropractor is a very sharp dude & former sky diver & filled out a VA Disability Questionnaire stating his belief that my back & neck issues are most likely due to my military training & duties.

I've been dragging my feet on filing my appeal/claim, simply due to apprehension about dealing with the VA after the boning I got on the way out the door. I'd filed an 'Intent to File' a couple years ago & inadvertently 'submitted' a claim. The chick who called from the Durham VA to tell me when my exam was scheduled got downright snotty & nasty with me over the phone because I couldn't just drop everything & get the time off from work on such short notice. That kinda attitude in person will most likely result in my being escorted from the building & I'm not looking forward to dealing with that den of vipers.

I’m in the process of filing with a claim assistance group as well. I’ll post a start to finish write up at the end of it.

John,

Do you know what Vetsguardian charges for their services?
Is it a flat rate or a percentage of what they get for you?
Thank you.

I could make a claim, probably get 30, maybe 40%. But I'm not gonna. The further away I stay from the VA, the better. I don't need it, some guys do, and I don't want to take up a slot for someone who needs it.
I worked at a VA hospital for about 4 years after I got out. I heard this from a lot of guys... "I'd rather not take the money so somebody more deserving can get it."

That's not how it works... We all swore on a Bible to do everything necessary, up to the point of death. In exchange, the military promised to reimburse all of us for any parts of our bodies that they might break along the way.

If you are broken then you deserve to be compensated. If you don't make a claim then you are literally flushing your own money down a toilet. Go get your money! Don't let the politicians keep it to waste on something else...

Well, as I posted earlier in this thread, my claim was denied back in July. I haven’t followed up on it at all. Yesterday I had some extra dollars in my bank account, via the VA. I go to my local VSO and told her that there was some mysterious funds in my checking account. She smiled and said “Merry Christmas”. Without telling me, she reviewed my file and noticed the evidence (CUE) I needed in the VA’s own files. A week later and I’m rated for 0% on my perforated eardrum and 10% for tinnitus. That gal is getting a Christmas present....

Jumping through VA hoops will be on my 2020 list of things to do...
Got denied in 2016 (?) And never followed up.
Thinking I'll give it a quick try then hire someone. (I have no room in my life for more BS or Stress!)

I filed a claim with Veterans Guardian's assistance in September. Per their estimate for that specific type of claim, I could have a decision from them shortly. They estimated a 60-70% rating, on top of my current 10%, which would be huge for us.

@Yroc99 my understanding of how they charge is that if you receive an increase in disability compensation, they get paid one half of that increase for 10 months. So if you get an increase of $1000/mo, they get $5000 ($500/mo x 10 months). They also offer a 'cash discount' for a lump sum payment.

I was waiting for an appointment to a cardiac doctor. It was more than 45 days to get one. I called back 2 weeks later and asked for community based Heathcare, they told me that I had turned it down when the appointment was made! Really!? How about never offered and just put in what they wanted so they didn’t have to go to any more trouble. I was livid and went to the Patient Advocate to get it straightened out. They got me an appointment with a civilian doctor...2 weeks later than my original appointment! I’m sure it was done on purpose. If my wife wasn’t a VA nurse, I’d never go back!
