Does anyone use this service? If you have Spectrum internet it cost 35 dollars a month and you get to your local content along with either their top 25 channel line up or you can choose 10 networks on top of your local content to stream live?

They keep bugging me about it. I politely tell them no and they keep trying and trying and I still say no

I'm gonna give it a go. Heck might as well it will save me a good bit. We have their internet already so what could it hurt with no contract. It's 25 dollars plus 4.99 for cloud storage. Then taxes so less than 40 dollars. I'll probably try it for a week or so before canceling my directTV account.

aint nothing wrong with that. Just a hard bargin to sawy me on when I have Voodoo media service

We've had it for about 6 months now. I'd give it a 6/10. I got it for one of our TV's that isn't in a good place for an antenna to get local news. The app is a little sketchy at times. It's nice because you have access to a ton of on demand shows. I'd say it's worth $20/month. Try it for a week and report back what you think.

I'm with Granny Clampett..... I don't trust a word Spectrum says.

I use to install for spectrum, still talk to quite a few guys that still do. They have been having problems with this service since it was launched.

They are like any big corporation. No one should "trust" anyone with over 10 employees... or something like that number (ymmv). OTOH, they do have no contracts, so you can quit any service at any time with no penalties. I have them for internet, but I don't even have a tv, so I can't speak to the streaming package. Their speeds are good. I have thought about streaming to the desktop, but frankly I am always troubled by the study I read that said the one unifying factor among the 50 "most productive men in America" was that they watched ZERO TV. They are too busy with other productive stuff, even if it is cruising information sites (most of them read, instead... yeah, I know. Big walls of text :) ).

TV viewing is going a la carte. All the media conglomerates (Dish, Direct TV, Fios, Charter, etc) know it. Streaming is just a way they are trying to recognize and adapt. It is what companies do. Choice on how we get content is the way of the future. I would like it if any others who try this let me know what they think. I would love a service that let me stream one show at a time and pay per view with no restrictions. That is definitely the way this whole gig is headed. Things are kludgy right now because the big boys are trying how to figure out how to adapt and keep their revenue stream in the face of so many nimble upstarts like YouTube TV (quite good from what I have heard) Netfix, Hulu, etc.

Choices are good.

Reactions: Me.
We've CenturyLink DSL, top speed 10mbps w/LAN line, 9.3 wireless.
Spectrum just offered to run our neighborhood (3 houses & 1/4mi cable with $44/mo internet.
CFF, what says ye?

I switched about 10 mos ago. No contest. My advice is give them a google phone number and a bogus email address, though. They will wear you out with offers.

If you have and use 10mbps then you have the patience of a saint. Most basic plans offer 40mbps as their "budget" internet.
That is 4x faster. Huge difference. Just my opinion, of course.
DSL or satellite are our only options, we're out there.

Spectrum's gig service is pretty nice. Pricey, but nice.105 a month but it took $200 to do the install. Fiber to your house, not just to the tap.Screenshot at 2019-08-07 16-31-45.png

New services have growing pains, I was all in on Direct TV Now (now ATT Now), had some issues at first,
limited interface options, now all good, runs on all the stream devices.

edit: I have ATT fiber to the house, they cabled the entire hood and no cost to hook me up.

One possibility for rural folk would be to get an unlimited data plan on a phone and just never use the phone for anything but data, but rather a permanent hotspot. Much faster speed than DSL.

wow! At what point do you stop noticing additional speed?
When I turn it on! lol
I don't game anymore, and that is a shame. Would love to become an LPB! (low ping bastard was what the gamer community used to call guys who had always on cable connections, vs dsl)

Spectrum, why do Latinos get internet & TV with 5 extra channels for $30 less than others?

If you look at the channel lineup they only get about 20 english stations. We don't do cable, but I considered it. The MI plan has about 8 gazillion novella stations (lol) and 20 english ones.

If I could get cable internet for $44/month, I'd dang sure do it.
2 DSL @$90 a month is best I can do at the moment.
1 for work, 1 for home use. Keeps the fam happy instead of me locking everything up for an hour or so uploading diagrams or wireless testing...

Reason I am going to try the cell route its not much more than my worthless single dsl line and landline. It is much faster.

Speed test from both for comparison the wireless is typically a good day for the att dsl.

Any idea why the upload is so much slower than the download?

This is what I get at the router:

This is about the fastest I’ve seen my phone (iPhone 6 Plus do...but I know it’s limited by the processor...as I’ve seen my iPad and newer iPhones do double those speeds)

What are you using to watch stuff
A fire stick with some streaming options, a smart tv, and a boosted antenna. We have prime video and Netflix, mainly for the kids. The apps on the fire stick are for us, my wife watched a video on youtube and downloaded the apps itnsaidnti and bam it worked out.
As for the smart tv, we bought a Toshiba, in our opinion they are one of the best on the market, they work really really well, excellent quality and customer service, and the tv actually can tell what the antenna is playing and automatically pulls the tv guide for all of our channels.
We also dont watch a lot of tv, heck up till a year ago we only had one tv in the whole house. Maybe that's why we have three kids, no tv in the bed room.....

@tanstaafl72555 - did you see me ask this question? Really curious since my AT&T usually has really close up/down speeds.

Lost our gateway to lightning on Sat. AT&T came out this afternoon and replaced it. Fastest speed test I’ve seen so far...

Do you use the built in WiFi? Mine was pretty dang fast at first but dang if it is spotty at best and using all the "tools" doesn't help much.

Yep. I do have the 2.4 and 5 bands named separately and usually just stay connected to the 5. Never really have any issues with any device as far as WiFi goes.

That was one of the best parenting decisions that we have made, right behind my wife being a stay at home mom.
we did not have a tv at all for SEVERAL years. don't have one now. my bar tab runs into the hundreds of dollars in the fall (college football), but it is worth it.

How do you name the Channels and designate each? I figure that would probably help.
