I heard on the radio this morning that Gov Cooper is going to speak about some kind of executive action that he is doing on "gun safety" this afternoon. i wonder what that might be?

Whatever, another foam at the mouth Libtard flapping his backside. If they could do anything through their pen and their phone they already would have. Dork is just trying to play off of the bleating sheep to try to drum up political support. Typical despicable democrat.

He should take his que from all the other states that have an "ass" ault rifle ban. Those have worked so well.

I heard he was going to Executive Order a statewide Barney Fife Bill. One revolver & one "bullet".
Actually, that makes a lot of sense to me.

If the next step were to outlaw shirts with pockets, that’d just about do it. :D

but it's hard to argue against better crime reporting and improved education:

Governor Cooper also shared information about the gun safety Executive Directive he signed today. The directive requires state agencies to take increased action on closing crime reporting gaps between state and federal agencies, and expands firearm safety education.

he's working hard. They found 284,000 criminals (criminal offenses) who had not been reported to the NICS database.

This part is kinda scary
  • The SBI will also provide Behavioral Threat Assessment training to local law enforcement agencies to help local law enforcement connect these individuals identified as a potential risk to harming others with supportive community services.

When I read that my mind went to stories about cops shooting mentally ill people because they weren't able to deal with the crazy any other way. So BTA training should help avoid that? In the context of red flags laws and such I can see how a mind could go elsewhere.

I wish we could count on our legislature to give him the same amount of attention Virginia legislature gave their Gov.Northam when he was presenting his anti gun measures. But I'm not sure they have the backbone....guess I will continue to make calls and hope for the best. Of course in today's climate of take the guns the second half of that saying applies even more -Expect the worst,

"284,289 individual instances of criminal convictions that had previously been unreported in the NICS database"

Of those I wonder what the actual number of new names added to the system were? How many of these convictions were additional convictions for people already in the system for felony or other prohibited convictions?

A large number like that makes it seem like Cooper made a difference when in fact his actions may have made no difference at all except earning him liberal brownie points.

I'm all for anything that keeps guns out of prohibited hands. That said, the numbers they're using on that page are from the Gabby Giffords anti-gun website and as usual are very careful with their which words they use. "On average, 1,113 North Carolinians per year are killed by firearms, and a person is killed by a gun every seven hours in the state." - if you dig down into those numbers, from giffords.org, as with the national numbers, the significant majority of those are suicides. I find it interesting that to this day, we're still not seeing a national push for suicide prevention. When Australia did their big gun ban, deaths didn't go down because they too were largely driven by suicides. Only when they did a big national campaign for suicide prevention did they see a noticeable drop.

Let’s have an executive action to direct law enforcement priorities to anything except gun regulation enforcement (they aren’t crimes if there is no victim).

And there should be no prohibited persons. If you are too dangerous to have a weapon you should be dead or in jail.

If people can be “prohibited”, it’s just politics and courts that decide who then has the privilege of keeping and bearing arms. No thanks.

Instead of celebrating this, people should:

A. Be tarring and feathering those responsible for not already reporting those individuals, including the executive-in-chief who was not so long ago our AG, as the law requires and

B. Be tarring and feathering the politicians squawking about "MORE LAWS!" when they have already so clearly shown the laws we do have aren't being followed and aren't holding up to their utopian promises.

I think there should be a law that all shirts "shall have" pockets. A shirt without a pocket is just a rag.
New state employee uniform has the shirt pocket sewn upside down to hold the shovel handle.

But this election is too important ....

S**t, the first four words of this thread title,
"Gov. Cooper to Talk"
were enough to win this contest =>

I just noticed I was in the wrong forum too; let's clean up the language a bit.

"If Cooper isn't talking about doing certain homosexual things under a bridge in San Francisco... he's lying."

Dang, is no place safe from that plague?

Idaho was supposed to be part of the Christian Redoubt.

No where is safe. They will not be satisfied until everywhere is the same.
