Now that whiskey/bourbon/scotch has gotten so popular:
Rare whisky market flooded with fakes, says dealer
Lab tests found 21 out of 55 bottles of allegedly vintage scotch were counterfeit
A whisky dealer has warned that the rare whisky market has been flooded with fakes after laboratory tests found one-third of samples were counterfeit.

The Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC) found 21 out of 55 bottles of allegedly vintage scotch whisky, some apparently worth tens of thousands of pounds, were either fake or were not distilled in the year claimed.

The fakes included one purporting to be a bottle of Ardbeg 1885, a single malt; a rare Thorne’s Heritage early 20th century blended whisky; and an Ardbeg malt allegedly bottled in the 1960s.

I normally prefer hi-test, big, bold beers, but woof. This shit is hard core.

Caribou Crossing is a very traditional Canadian Whiskey. Smooth for days. Almost no to faint nose. Surprisingly good legs. Dangerously easy drinker, even neat. Not very memorable, but I might have a buzz.....goes well with steak. My $.02

You ever try Pendleton? Good stuff. Made in Oregon, with their own blend of Canadian spirits, cut with water from Mt. Hood & aged in oak barrels. Official whiskey of the Professional Bull Riders Association, for whatever that's worth. Very nice, smooth whiskey, not too sweet. Damned fine sippin' whiskey for ~$23 a fifth. Not complex at all, just a damned nice whiskey for short-ish $.

I found some Rock Hill bourbon today. I bought a bottle about 3 years ago for $65ish dollars and have not been able to find it again until today. Was in an out of the way liquor shop and they had 2 bottles on the shelf behind the counter. He handed me a bottle and said it was $199.99 and I looked at him and said thanks but no thanks.

DAMN

Picked up a 12pk of this. I find it quite enjoyable.

I wonder how they are able to use the NCSU logo. When I was getting permission to use it on my sons graduation present, they specifically said that it could not be used on alcohol or anything alcohol related, i.e., flask.

I found a bottle of Very Old Barton and a Henry McKenna 10 yr yesterday

Went to Chick-fil-a for dinner and could not drive by the biggest package shop in town. Ask the guy what he had in the back and he came back with a bottle of Yippee Ki-Yay. I told him that I really like the Basal Hayden Double Rye and he said that I should love this,

Although I'm not much of a rye guy, I hear that's a good find for the folks that are!

Word on the street says there are many bottles of Eagle Rare and McKenna on the shelves in Carolina Beach abc store....Not first hand experience as I am at work...

For the past 3 years I have been looking for some Rock Hill Farms. The package shop that I stop in about once or twice a week I asked them if they every get some in please save me a bottle or 2. They said leave a business card with your phone number and what you want in the office. This was less than 2 weeks ago. Got a call today to come and pick up a bottle (yes just 1).
It pays to shop the same store.

Duty free shop didn't have anything interesting, so I picked these three up instead.
Total was right at $60 cheaper than ABC

That Glenlivet 15 is a smooth drink.

How is it? Never had that one.

Very nice and clean. Nice smooth long finish. A touch of fruit, but not "fruity." Not overly spicy. Just a great quality Scotch....

It obviously doesn't have the depth of the 18/25 but at 1/20th of the cost it's not 1/20th the quality either...

Not much of a Woodford bourbon fan but never had their Double Oak and Wheat bourbons. While at Tower Liquors I asked if they had anything behind the counter and the girl said only the Wellers Special Reserve.

While driving around Sandy Springs today my son took me to a package shop that he goes to. I found a Jefferson at Sea 15 and Bambu XO (Rum). Been looking for the wheat Jefferson and I love the regular Bambu.

Finally tried Old Tuffy beer at the football game yesterday. It's better than most cheap beers I've tried, but certainly not the best out there.

They were selling tall cans at the stadium for $9 each.

I tasted it last week. Disappointed to say the least...

Crazy how location determines prices and what you can get.... Can't find this in Charlotte and they are slashing prices in St. Louis...
You make it all the way out here and don't even drop a brother a note to say hi, or let's meet for lunch? Sheesh

Well my ass is in the dog house! Stopped by the package shop yesterday and walked away from a couple bottles that I was not sure about and was told that they were getting in a few things today.
My allowance is spent for the next 2 weeks unless something special comes in.
