My neighbor has a Jeep Wrangler. He says it's rare and wants to fix it up. He is looking for someone to take the body off, repair the underside of the body(holes in floors,,,) paint it the underside and then replace body on frame.
We live in Clayton, anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks Ed

I’m not aware of too many “collectible” Wranglers. They’re out there, I guess.

Have him confirm restored value vs unrestored value. He may get sticker shock from what that repair job will cost him and be upside down by a long shot...

He’s gonna lose money on this, but that’s okay, we still want to see some before pics.

Going through this now on a 78 cj5. For a quality kit (tub, fenders, hood, tailgate, grill) your looking at $3500-$5000 depending on model.

You can easily hit 10k on the project and that’s if your doing it yourself.

Hey guys
Thanks for the comments.
He asked me if i knew anyone, i don't, so just hoping that someone here might. He is figuring on about 10k if it is more he will have to decide. I am not a fan of jeeps at all, they are like enduro motorcycles, suck on road and suck on trails. BUT it isn't mine.

Thanks again.

There is a place in Clemmons, Tool Time Jeep 336-784 4891 and all they do is work on Jeeps. If nothing else maybe they could recommend someone in your area.

I'm having some similar work done on an 05 TJ. The whole body isn't coming off but the drivers side of the body is coming off the frame a bit so as to replace the rear drivers side floor pan and also replace the floor brace on that side. The whole Jeep is also getting painted.

After I get it back I'm replacing just about everything mechanical except for the engine, transmission, and transfer case. I'm sending both front and rear diffs off to get remanufactured. So I'm definitely not going to get my money back on all of this but I like Jeep Wranglers (TJs and earlier) so its worth it for me.

My 2000 TJ.....Bodies in good shape....I do have some rust issues on the frame though.

From experience from several vehicles, it’s gonna cost about twice what he thinks.
But one restored and save a shitload of money
