That place is located smack dab in the middle of the sketchy part of town. I'm not surprised it happened, but wonder how it happened.
They're located in an old bank building and they have a vault. I guess they don't put the guns in it at night.

Damn. I'm surprised about the time frame and amount they got. I would have thought that the store would have a decent alarm system that would have narrowed down the time frame at least and limited the time to commit the theft. Wonder if it was an inside job?

The guns are probably long gone and will be on the street and in the hoods.

No, it's two guys that run that place. No periphery employees.

Good guys. Both are friends of mine. I sure hate to hear this.

I always thought they put them in the vault at night. I guess not, or they used to, but don't anymore.

Most small retail stores don't survive a hit like this.
Not sure what kinda insurance they might have. Thereā€™s not only the value of the guns but also not having any guns to sell.

We had 10k people without power last night and most of town is still out as of now.

Bingo. Even with battery and a cell backup, the monitoring station would have been slammed. Granted a burglary would have gotten a higher priority, but signals would have been queued up.

Yeah the power was out from about 5pm so I'd say most backups were drained either way.

Or Charlotte. Last couple big robberies up our way have been people coming from Charlotte.

Most of that has been the people hitting cars in neighborhoods. There has been several of our drug dealers that trade guns for cocaine in the New Jersey/ New York areas heavily over the last 7-10 years. One Traded a trunk full of guns for two kilos of cocaine and had the dea place a track on his phone and took him down when they pulled in his neighborhood. So knowing the power was out and location I'd say locals.

Well, I say Charlotte because our outdoor equipment store up here in North Iredell got hit one night. They drove all the way from Charlotte.
Our bank got robbed couple years back. Drove from Salisbury.
And if I recall, the gun/archery store over by Ingles that got hit was dudes from Charlotte.

And this most recently:

Drove all the way from Charlotte in a stolen car to rob a bank here.

If they were from here, some of the guns will turn up on the south side in traffic stops.

I'm surprised that some on here are not blaming the owners for this since they did not have them "properly secured". The same way folks get bashed that have guns stolen from their vehicles. It's breaking and entering/stealing in either case and against the law. Put the blame on the perpetrators.

A spreader truck, a side by side, a trailer, and a Bobcat were all stolen from my neck of the woods a couple weeks ago. The truck was abandoned at a gas station in Charlotte. The impound lot connected the owner. It cost him $800 to get it back.

The fault lies with the thieves, but the business owners were lazy and stupid if they don't lock up their inventory at the end of business daily. It's the responsible thing to do for your business and the community.

They are in a trunk and half way to New York by now.

I remember a few years ago, Shooters Express got hit one night. Stolen van thru the brick wall, snatched a few firearms. Get away vehicle on standby. The next night, one of the firearms was recovered in New Jersey during a robbery.

They move them quickly out of town.

Too bad they did not stay at the shop is the power was out.

So locked doors on the building and a security system is not "locking up their inventory" and means the owners were lazy and stupid? Lets take it a step further looking at it in that type of reasoning; if all guns were banned and eliminated, then the crooks would not be able to steal guns.

One of my best friends shop here in Florence got hit a few weeks ago. They knocked off the meter base and killed the power. The cameras got pictures, but the infared pictures were not clear enough to make any sort of identification. Of course everyone started talking "inside job". Most businesses have insurance but due to the high prices, the deductible is high and if they knew what he had to go through with the ATF audit (which I understand is basically mandatory after a theft like this) those rumors would cease immediately. He lost around 30 handguns. Most were cheap trade ins and Pawn guns so the value wasn't enormous thank goodness, but the aggravation of having to repair his building and dealing with the ATF was certainly not worth what one could gain by it being an inside job. At least not for 30 used POS guns.

Look at it anyway you want, but don't put words in my mouth. You're the one making the illogical leap, not me. It's common sense. Banks don't leave cash out of the vault when they close, Jewelers lock up the stones too. Car dealerships lock the keys up in a safe system. Pharmacies put narcotics in vaults. High value targets require higher level security, plain and simple... Don't cloud the conversation with rhetoric. It's not about politics, it's about responsible business practices. That said, when you go into business selling a product that is highly desirable to criminal elements and is a potential danger to the public if acquired by that element, you have a moral and ethical responsibility to protect those assets. Is it illegal? No. It's not illegal to leave your pistol on your dash in the Walmart parking lot and go inside either. Doesn't make it a good idea or a responsible way to act. It's a fact of life.

Okay, the liberals want more gun control laws ... BUT 1 will get you 3 that the felony larceny of a firearm charges will be dropped in a plea bargain.

ENFORCE THE DAMN LAWS CURRENTLY ON THE BOOKS BEFORE SCREAMING FROM MORE!

That's Racist!

Surprise they were not white o_O
We don't steal guns. White people acquire them legally before going on shooting rampages.
