Deer season 2019

And it feels great outside this morning. There’s gonna be some monsters taken today

Ima try my best. Nice 62 here and already hear them in the creek
Good luck. I’ve seen three so far come out of the corn and cross my driveway, from my couch :D

Good luck to all. Be safe. I'm on the ground on game lands today. Quiet so far from deer movement, but plenty of birds. Hawk nearby is screaming his head off.

Had six past my stand this morning. My stand is a covered sun deck and I was sitting in my swing. LOL Don’t hunt NC anymore. Use to lease over 1000 acres in NC and gave it all up. Got tired of NC hunting. Started going to other states where view was different.

Driving down 49 about 8:30 this morning in Uwarh we saw a big heavy body getting pulled out of the woods to a truck.

Good luck guys. Not even sure I'll hunt this year. But I've got a ladder stand up and my climber so you never know. Have not picked up my bow, other than to move it out of my way, in over a year.

Wwwwhhhhhhaaatttttt? Dude, what gives? Work?

I was chatting with a big (I think, I'm no expert but he looked pretty solid to me) buck in my backyard the other day. He was watching me burn some trash and didn't seem terribly bothered by me even when I talked to him.

He probably couldn't understand your accent.

Yeah, hard to believe. And yes, work. Between solid 13 hour days 5 days a week and only eating dinner at home 2 day a week I'm not even sure I need to hunt. Might try to get a couple to use in my dogs food since we started using raw meat. He's eating most of what I shot last year already. Might go some during rifle. But don't think I trust my bow skills this go around.

Sorry to hear that, and kind of in the same boat. I’m mostly working from home but the days are long. I made it out Saturday and will go after work a few days a week, but I haven’t shot my bow much either.

Saw a few does, spike, and a 6 in the first hour on opening morning. Nothing worth shooting. And I’m continuing on with my no corn, no bait during bow season to hone in on pinch points and more “natural” hunting. Probably be another year without a bow kill haha

Hope you find some time to shoot and hunt soon.

threw some perfectly good corn on the ground in from of my camera yesterday. It's hot AF and if I don't feel like moving around, neither do the deer. Still waiting on my Pee Dee NWR lottery results since they moved to this godawful online lottery system.
I'm sure it will just draw more ya-hooligans to Ansonville. This year I'm back in the climber and off the ground since I don't feel like wearing Level IV plates in the blind. I can't relate how many 4+1 magazinefuls I counted last season shot at a running deer.

I haven’t had time for any prep this year. Haven’t shot my bow, put out corn or camera or anything. At the moment my season isn’t looking to good. On the plus side there is an albino buck I’ve seen several times about eight miles from the house. Don’t think I’ll ever see him where I hunt but it’s cool to see him when you ride by.

My eldest daughter (17) took her 7mm-08 this morning for youth day.

She nailed a pretty good sized doe about 7:45am.

Unfortunately I had to go to work, but, she cleans em almost as fast as I do.

She went out by herself. Shot it. Her and my wife took pics and brought it back to the house. She cleaned it by herself.

Proud of her on multiple levels.

I have heard snorting in the woods but not seen a single one yet. Not even dead in the road-

My son connected yesterday with what he thought was a doe at 75yds. Turns out it was a button. He blew him up with a spine hit with his mom's Rem 700 .30-06 and 165gr Federal hotcor ammo.

In the video around 41 secs you can see him jump straight up and pretty much fell dead.

Cool!

Yeah that would be a neat skull mount to stick somewhere.

I got to start grinding the hide and bones with mine to get the amount of meat from my deer like you guys do.
:p:p

Don't shoot the Shepard, wait for the real deer. Oops! ;)

BTW: Just a joke. If you don't know I've not harvested a deer since I've been hunting (1977 in NH). I've seen a lot just not had a shot. I am planning to get out this year in NC. So if anyone wants a tag along, you know, in case of sprained ankle and such, I'd like to learn what it's like in the south.
