Beto: People can't fight a Tyrannical Government nor do they have the right to

This guy is the reason we have the 2nd Amendment in the first place. What they don't understand is that it will not always be "their guy" in office, so a totalitarian government could force them to act against their best interests, then what? They have no recourse of action against it but to flee.

Not sure why people still have this fantasy that Texas is some bastion of 2nd amendment patriotic manhood and freedom. They have become just like every other state that has large metropolitan areas that have been taken over by latte sipping liberal hipsters who hate anything that could even resemble independence much less their feared "toxic" masculinity. Yes, Texas may have once been the "Lone Star State" with a bunch of John Wayne style cowboys riding the range and giving awesome speaches like Gus McRae from Lonesome Dove, but >this< Beano dude is the new face of Texas.

I call it Austin-itis. Been a liberal bastion for decades.

Ain't gonna lie. If they start aiming those battleships at me, I'm outta here.

Texas has probably been one of the most influenced states by liberal urban flight. Folks with means relocate from NY, NJ and others relocate there and bring their beliefs systems with them...

...hence reproducing the same political changes in a new location.

To be honest I see the same thing happening here in the Carolinas!

It's already happened here (can't say for SC). NC's economy, the banking and tech sector, the retirement, the weather, people flock here from the northeast.

Texas cities are all liberal. What makes it different, though, is that in Texas the hundreds of miles between any city and a small town creates a huge chasm which the left cannot cross. In NC, SC, other states, the geography is so small it doesn't take as much for a polarizing shift.

Thinking that the medieval concept of the "walled city" needs to make a comeback - with the walls turned inwards.

More seriously (tin-foil time), though, I expect that the major internal political upheaval will be based on a change (or pressure to change) of governance from a State/County model with cities as the hubs of both that incorporate the surrounding rural areas to something akin to city-states along with rural regions that govern independently but cooperatively (to some extent).

They can't imagine what is happening in Venezuela right now with them being in the position of the people and not the controllers.

I actually agree with ol Beto.
Americans do not have the right to fight off tyrannical governments.
It is our duty.

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

Do most of you folks have a Facebook presence?

I do not, will not. This is the limits for my Social Justice Warrior connections.

I've seen nothing good come of it.

Am I being naive?
Want to see backlash about fbook? Post a contest with entry via that avenue. You'll have people replying thanks but no thanks. A lot of l folks here dont do fb. I'm one that doesn't. I don't need the drama in my life.

I don’t Facebook either.

I dumped facebook 7-8 years ago. Creeped me out who they know I know.
And they still know, I just don’t contribute to that further as much as possible.

I try to minimize use: I don't develop my page at all, but FB is useful in following the unit and sub-units in which my son serves in the Army; shooting range updates; an artist of whose works I am a collector; etc. Maybe half-a-dozen in all. I don't think I have any "friends."

Honestly, though, are not one's phone and automobile (if recent) even more intrusive? Not being snarky ... it is a (possibly naive) question as - ironically - scientist by training, I remain mostly a Luddite.

It can definitely be a source or a tool, but it was a big time waster, for me. Not that I'm an industrious little person, but the amount of time I wasted arguing with people over the stupidest stuff. Nope. Had enough, and quit it in 2014.

BINGO - doesn't Twitter cause the same reaction?

I've never been on any of the social media places.
I get a full dose of what they offer here from the people who repost things for us to "enjoy".

I watched that last night.

The words coming out of his mouth and the people clapping at the end of it. Gah!

An entire crowd of people who have never read the Declaration of Independence, and who would reject everything it says if they did.

Did you hear about him at Kent State talking about how what happened there is why civilians don't need guns?

"People can't fight a Tyrannical Government nor do they have the right to"

Man, is he in for a rude awakening. At least I hope so, if it gets to that.
