This market sucks

That's because the younger generations have had to deal with all of the "collectible" crap that their parents and grandparents had after they pass. That or their parents try to guilt trip them into keeping stuff. My wife's mom is the world's worst on both accounts.

We have a closet full of "collectible" dolls my mom gave to my girls. I am trying to figure out a time when I can inventory them and sell them on ebay. There is nothing worse that trying to give your kids and grandkids your crap that you wasted your money on and then trying to guilt them into "wanting" it. We have had to be ruthless with our moms on that.

I am so utilitarian in guns... no, I am so utilitarian in EVERYTHING, that I just don't understand "collectibles" in literally any area. I buy stuff to use it. I believe you should be able to buy a vintage crosscut saw, or knife, or thompson submachine gun, or 1911, or M1... or whatever... and you should be able to take pride in good craftsmanship and beauty and all that......
But I am going to go with a downloaded mp3 and save my money any day over your vintage white album signed by all four beatles. My guns are all extremely utilitarian.
I had two remington 1100 16 gauges I and my dad shot together on about a million dove hunts..., sold em and don't feel a bit guilty about it, and don't understand how anyone would feel otherwise.
Moreover, even if I am going for investment, I am going to buy a sock of junk dimes over your 1894 morgan s..... I think it is just that I can buy lots more 22 ammo and 1022s to sell in the apocalypse than a vintage cap and ball owned and signed by General Robert E Lee. To each his own and all that, but I just don't get "high end" anything except for utilitarian usefulness.
ps. I once owned a Mercedes, and sold it.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

Ah, it's a chair mat. @fieldgrade is in a brand, spanking new house.

By the way, look at the damned gun, will you all? His shorts, socks, ugly shirt, floor, chair mat, hairy body and appendages are just distractions.
It IS a good ad! After @NKD mentioned tighty whiteys, then you said study the ad, them socks jumped out
and I have such little self control, the comment couldn't be contained.

...those are the consequences.

"Consequences, schmonsequences- as long as I'm rich!"

I am getting more like this as I age. But if my Dad passes there are a couple of his firearms I’d keep for the memories. They were the first guns I shot as he taught me safety and the basics. Most of his collection I’d be Ok with parting with. To each his own.

I have about about 8 and of course they are very rare. I have never seen any like them before. Might be cause I haven’t looked but I’m sure it’s a fair deal. They are definitely in better shape then the gun.
And I am only 5 minutes away!
I wouldn’t feel right taking advantage of you that way. ;)

Fieldgrade hit the nail with selling.
Requires crafting a smart ad with lots of pics and targeting a demographic.

I see so many lazy and terrible for sale threads.

“For sell. Gun. Custom. I just want what I got in it. 6000$. Sell eslfnadressed stamped envelope for pics and I might send you a Polaroid. This is a grate deel”.
And don't forget the obligatory BOS and copies of your papers in triplicate.
