What are you drinking?

It's a solid bourbon. There are better bourbons at that price but it is a solid choice and one I tend to keep on hand.

Not at the top of my list for sipping but, I try to have some around for my blood orange Old Fashions.

Sipping one of the last of my Angel's Envy pours. I will have a small amount of booze money next week. I hope I will be able to find something special.

I enjoy Bullet a bunch. It's not as sweet as the Woodfords. Finishes clean but not quite as fruity (I call it).

Not overly priced either.

Living in Kentucky for about 8 years was a golden opportunity to experiment and I enjoyed it.

My current favorite old fashioned bourbon is New Riff Single Barrel. It is quite excellent.

On the way to the ABC store right now. This should marry well with a fresh, warm McRib sammich. :D

I agree with dkmatthews. This week at work sucked! D7A3D713-4C57-4723-BE39-6E6D17D3363C.jpeg
started off with a sherry bomb MacCallan and finished with one of my current fav Islay pours Laphroaig Lore. Before you hate on no age statement scotches, try this one! It will make you a believer. Complex flavors for days! Cheers!!!

Brand new bottle of Four Rose's followed me home this evening and not even uncorked yet.

Now the choices; Angel's Envy, Four Roses (Small Batch) or Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey.

After 30 minutes or 5 votes and I get to pouring.

What am I drinking?

Angels is the best of the list...

Nice rainy day lunch meeting. @mj1angier convinced me to open a bottle of 1910. Good call.

@Midliferally sent me my first sampling of Knob Creek Quarter Cask. Another good call!

Squirrel season starts tomorrow morning boys! And I'm off on Monday's. And it's not hot. That calls for a celebration.

@BurnedOutGeek , feel free to get your arse back down here whenever the opportunity presents itself!

If I hadn’t had a family reunion thing I’d have been there in person. Thanks to @mj1angier for making the delivery. Glad you like the Knob Creek! With this change in the weather, I’ll bet there is some peaty scotch in our future. Hope to make it down soon. Cheers!

Chicken breast are gone. Time for an after dinner (Pilar Rum) drink and a Flores Y Rodriguez cigar.

Red White and Boozes on the radio.

20191015_012940.jpgOK, I'll be the first to admit that this is new territory for me. Go ahead and tell me how terrible this cheap scotch is. Lol...... I normally drink Maker's, Dickel 12, or Gentleman Jack, but I've seen the scotch you guys drink and I was curious. I told a guy at work about it and turns out he's a scotch drinker. This is what he suggested to start with to see if I liked it. Awhile back I had a couple airplane bottles of it so I knew it was tolerable. I had a terrible day at work and tomorrow off so I picked up a pint..... I poured it like I normally do my liquor, in a yeti tumbler with one large ice cube, and let it sit a bit before I started sipping.... I think I like it. It's definitely different but I doubt this bottle makes it through the night. Where do I go from here? @thrillhill @rantingredneck @Midliferally

My suggestions would be Johnny Walker Green, Highland Park 12, Oban, any of the Glens in your price range. (Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie). Monkey Shoulder is another good entry point. The journey begins!

Extra Credit assignment: Go to your local ABC and buy a mini bottle of Johnny Walker Blue. ($19.95) Take a good glass, place an ice shiver/chip in the glass and add the Blue. (if your frig doesn't do crushed ice, rinse the glass out with good water, then add Blue to a few drops of residual h20.) Let it sit for a few minutes, smelling occasionally. Then start taking small sips. This is a gateway to more complex flavors and will be telling as to how far your palate has come. If not now, soon you will be able to discern flavors and develop preferences. It's a fun journey! Cheers!

Pick up a bottle of Glenfiddich 14. Bourbon Barrel Aged.

About 53 bucks.

Waiting on a report!

Walk by it all the time thinking should I?

It's not a big hot bourbon. Very smooth. Vanilla, cherries, nutty finish.

I like it. Easy sipping whiskey.

If you are looking for heat though look elsewhere.

For 40 bucks I'd buy it again for sure.
