Really considering buying one with the great prices right now for my wife. I think it would be an ideal candidate for pocketbook carry for multiple reasons, however I hate buying guns before trying them, let alone buying one for my wife without her trying it. Shes held it in the store, racked it etc, but you never really know u til you shoot it. Any of you have any experience with it?

With the new rebate, it’s so cheap it doesn’t matter whether she’ll like it or not. ;)

Please have her rent/borrow one before buying, it'll save a lot of grief...ask me how I know this.
I shot one at the range a year or so ago, didn't hate it, it just wasn't for me. The grip didn't feel right, is what I recall mostly.

Thank you! I may try and find someone who has one to borrow/rent/meet at the range and see if that can work.

I'm not too proud to admit I have one and I enjoy shooting it more than I expected to. With a light, it's become my new nightstand gun. I know, stopping power, etc - but I live in town with close neighbors (wood frame houses with lots of windows), and overpenetration - or misses - is something I think about. With this, follow-up shots are quick and easy, and it can get me to a .357 or shotgun if necessary. It is easy and natural to manipulate in the middle of the night; fits my smaller hand too. I really like this little gun and would reach for it before some more highly regarded pistols. Mine's been dead reliable so far, with any kind of ammo. If .380 will do, it's hard to go wrong. Mine's a keeper.

After hand surgery, my wife has difficulty with grip strength to rack a slide. When I was picking up a gun in January, she checked out a 380 EZ and bought it on the spot. The gun is a pleasure to shoot and has not had any problems.

My fiancee has one and loves it. To be honest I hope they take the noticable improvements on this model and transfer it over to the M&P's.

The biggest one was the slide release or lock, different people call it different things. They made it to where it takes a lot less force to release the slide, compared to other M&P models.

It also feels like it takes alot less force to rack the slide on this model.

Wife got one and really likes it. She's got small hands and not a great amount of grip strength, so it's perfect for her. Most importantly she can operate it confidently.

Rent one before you buy it for her. Let her shoot it and see it SHE likes it. I've gone through a few guns with MY bright idea of what she should shoot and I wound up selling everyone of them.

Please ignore my first post:)

One of my employees bought one with the thumb safety. Her only complaint is the cost of .380 ammo (she is a single mom with a daughter in college and one in high school and has been shooting 50 rounds a week for the last two months), otherwise she loves how easily it racks and how soft it shoots. When she bought hers it came with a free gun lock box.

And if Hickory had any in stock I would have one. These seem like they would be fun shooters.

Anyone had any trouble with the grip safety? It's existence is my one gripe on these.
The one I shot the other day (not sure if it was the EZ or not, but .380, yes) gave me trouble with the grip safety. I've shot a lot of guns with those and never had any problem with them till the other day. Not sure what the issue was.
On my first ever grip safety gun, I shot it many times before I even noticed there was such a thing on it, so I grabbed it correctly from the get-go. (I know, not observant.)
Same with any subsequent g. s. guns....till this .380. This probably isn't helpful to you. lol.

Not unhelpful. I've held one in a gun store and practiced grabbing it quick and a couple times didn't get the right angle to fully depress the grip safety. I understand who this pistol is marketed towards, but a complicated safety on a carry pistol is a turn off for me.

Best gun . Smith came out with in years. Low recoil large enough to shoot well, very easy slide, light enough to carry.

It is basically built off their 22 compact frame it looks like.

Speaking as a 10mm and 45acp guy, 380 is just fine, and will do the job quite well

So the one I bought today isn’t needed? :(

After a lot of soul-searching, I prefer a no-safety-except-me type of gun....(ok, the g19 has a trigger safety.)

I feel the same for myself, but my wife will most likely carry off body and we do have little ones so in the extremely unlikely event, I'd be thankful for that extra little safety. Another reason im ok with the grip safety which Id otherwise be totally against.

I get it. Kids change the whole story, don't they?

I think what's needed here is a grip safety like my 1911s have....no issues with either of those! LOL.

I'm sure she'll find something she can work with, it just might take a while.

Can the grip safety be pinned down if desired?

It is also available with a manual safety in addition to the grip safety if that helps you any.

Yep thats the model I got her. Im hoping as she goes through this journey of training and carrying a gun she grows into what she likes and works best for her. Carrying off body is a whole different animal to me, so I look forward to watching her find what works for her.

we sell the crap out of them at the store. Cant keep them in the case. Hear lots of good stuff from women who cant pull the slides back easily.
