I finally snagged a Colt 1911. This one is an officer's model, Mark IV stainless. Price was nearly a gift and the seller lives 3 miles from my house. It has some carry wear but doesn't look to be shot much at all. I'm checking my lottery numbers when I get offa here...

Looks like the feed ramp hasn’t been polished with a dremel tool yet. Better fix that

I keed I keed, no need to lynch me

@gunbelt has the twin to that. I converted it so you can put the safety on and then operate the slide for a little safer loading and unloading. I did some trigger work to it and added some Black Buffalo Horn grips. It Will shoot as am I sure yours will.

I dislike those grips, otherwise great looking gun!

I’m sure you can find options for other stocks at the M&G, unless you happen to like those. If you go to swap them maybe go ahead and replace the bushings with a set from Challis.

I am definitely open to swapping for some new grips. I been eyeballing those stags in the BST.

I don’t think I can shoot it with Ivory... don’t you have to hold your pinky out when you get that fancy?

I think I have a set of nice Ivory ones for it?????
I was very close to ordering a set of ivory grips yesterday, but due to new laws needed to take delivery in FL and it just wasn’t convenient to do so.

Not quite a twin. Mine is an Enhanced model. But close.

I noticed the safety plunger tube is a bit loose. Not falling off but it shifts a little when you work the safety. @BatteryOaksBilly do ya'll have a staking tool?

Sorry, I don't. Everytime a see a gun without the grip extension up and over the tube, it's only a matter of time. Everything on a 1911, even this small item, is there for a reason.

Need you one of them Two Fools specials to park that heater in

Nice colt. Everybody needs at least one

So I borrowed a Strobel staking tool -thanks @JimB and removed the grips and safety. At that point the plunger tube fell off on the bench. And this gun has functioned 100% for me like that :).

I'm all set to re-stake it but I can't see where there's any place for the tube legs to expand into. They reach through to flush with the inside of the frame but there's no bevel to speak of. A couple pics will follow... is this right?

Sending up the bat signal: @John Travis

Should those holes be chamfered deeper?

Those look chamfered to me, but probably easier to tell if you put the plunger tube in place and see if there is a little space around the posts.

The front leg looks good, the back leg appears a hair short. If you want, use the tool without the plunger installed and the hardened point will give the holes a little more chamfer, but it’s like expanding brass when reloading, you just want a little. I’d give it a go and if it doesn’t work order a new tube.

Jim speaks the truth. Not my pistola, but with the rear being short like that, I might go ahead and replace it with a new one. I figure the safety is used more than the slide lock, so if it’s not tight in the rear from being a little short, you might have issues again down the road. Just my $.02

Yah sorry the pics didn't turn out like I hoped. I’l check again but I think both legs will reach through fully. A new tube is a good plan B.

Thanks for the help guys.
