It’s my oldest birthday so I wanted to pick him something up. I picked him up Friday and took him to a skateboard shop to pick up his first real board. He picked out his deck, trucks and wheels. Put everything together paid the man and off we went. When we got to the truck he said “I’m not going to show this to mom”. I asked why not and he says she wouldn’t be happy about the salt shaker full of cocaine on it. I ask how the hell he knew it was cocaine. He said he just assumes it is with all the pills and pot leafs on it. I grab the board and look at it and son of a bitch I bought a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas board.

On a positive note when I got home he came up to me and said “you have no idea how thankful I am for this thing, I love skateboarding”. It’s all he’s wanted to do since he got it. So my bonehead move paid off in the end.

When my oldest daughter was 13/14, she wanted a pair of platform shoes.
So the wife and I stop by the store to pick some up.
They had 2 heights, the wife asked witch we should get?
The high ones of course was my response.
The daughter loved them.

There will be battles you need to win, but there are a lot that you need to give into so the child "lives".

Back when grandson was a littler fellow he was into walking dead and zombie killing. He studied all the weapons and gave me a list. So one day we had a pawpaw-grandson day and went out to fill his list. Came home with a truckload of stuff to kill zombies with. Was a hell of a lot of fun building the stuff with him. Built a baseball bat with nails in it, a machete, zombie spear, saw blade swinging ax and several others. Then they came out with zombie killing ammo, it was that day when he wanted to start shooting. His nana wasn't too happy but I told her to get over it.

Least Daniel didn’t make his kid a bat w nails in it

Ah, the joys of skateboards.

I clearly remember going outside one afternoon to find my oldest son and his friends had built a ramp and were trying to jump over his old, ragged car!

Still have some of my old decks
I love that they are still making some good artwork of them.
Almost a shame to tear em up.
But, that's what they're made for!

I still love skateboarding. Was great for me as a youth. Met some great athletes skating. Don't skate anymore but watch it when I can.

Was a good alternative to being a chad jock.

That's how you know you're getting old, and that is an awesome deck.

found a brand new money pit. my daughter started skating in june. she is now on a hockey team. I love every minute of it. This qualifies as an oblivious parent moment because I had ZERO idea how much this sport was going to cost. View attachment 164000
I also play at the icehouse

That's nice art work even though I have no idea where it's from.
