I'm new to this forum, but I'm reasonably active over on Pistol-Forum under the same name (to the extent work doesn't unduly impede on time for training and competing).

I joined this forum to learn more about training and competition opportunities in the Triad.

My background is IDPA, USPSA, some SC, bowling pin matches, and Conventional Pistol. I had a lot of access to competition opportunities when I lived in upstate SC, so the Triad has been a big change with respect to availability. However, the matches within an hour of Winston that I have attended (SDPL nee Foothills IDPA, PHA Defensive Pistol) have all been well-run and offered plenty of variety!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome. There are tons of different matches around here. Some will stretch the hour drive though.

But definitely check out CGGR range. They have awesome USPSA matches. Also, a bit further for you, but the USPSA match at Sir Walter gun club is about as good as it gets, imo.

Hope to see you at a match!

I'm very interested to hear about the matches at CGGR. I looked up their website but did not see a competition calendar (mobile browser issue?).

Asheboro is a great area and not at all an inconvenient drive. I'm down there occasionally for work.

Check them out on practiscore.com.

They have 3gun and other stuff as well.

Welcome from North of town.
CGGR runs a very good USPSA 3rd Saturday match and SC uh 4th? Sunday. And some rifle stuff.
Rowan Practical Shooters runs a very good match the 2nd Saturday. Thread on here.
Both use practiscore for sign-up.

VIR and Sir Walter are not unreasonable drives. And there's a variety of things at True North in Oxford, and GoShoot in Sanford.
