World Series 2019

I'm a big Justin Verlander-Upton fan. So, I'm watching now. Hoping he can break his WS funk!

Aaand... he just pitched a home run. Game tied up.

Still....dude is a Cy Young winner, MVP, rookie of the year....and gets to knock boots with Kate Upton. Guy is my hero.

I've been watching all the games, at least until I fall asleep. I am a Nats fan because of Trea Turner, who played at NCSU. However, I won't be disappointed if Houston wins. The little spark plug Altuve is fun to watch. And I've followed Cole since he debuted with the Pirates in 2013 and won his first 4 starts.

That's great, the guy who let the HR hit him in the chest the other night is in a Bud Light commercial now.

I hope they paid him well!

The crowd’s really into it, the energy’s through the roof.
It’s interesting to see the coaches at the World Series looking completely calm.

“Completely calm” left the building in the 7th. :D

Watched bits of the first games. Been watching tonight since the 3rd.

That interference call was BS. Hopefully Washington holds on so there’s a game 7.

It’ll be weird for it to be 3-3 with the road team winning every game.

Surprised to see Strasburg back out for the 8th...

Martinez had no business continuing the argument like that. He should have been tossed even sooner than he was - even though the call WAS pretty iffy.

Especially since the call wasn’t reviewable.

I will say the little graphic they showed of Stras’ fastball, curve ball and changeup was pretty cool. Same release point, basically the same ending point, but very different paths and speeds.

Bailed out a bad throw.

Postgame just went into detail. It was a bad call, which is easy to see with slow mo replay. However, it is a judgment call and those aren't reviewable. The umps were only on the headset because managers are allowed to ask umps to check if they are interpreting the rule correctly, but no opinions are provided to the ump.

Yeah, I saw a little bit of that.

Torre’s explanation was horrible, and was different than what the entire discussion during the game was.

I was glad a caught the little fact about road teams winning before I shut it off. First time in 1400+ (can’t remember the exact number) times there’s been a Game 7 across MLB, NHL and NBA that the road team has won the first six.

...and I’ll never understand why you have to be so PC to let former players that can barely speak English sit at the desk for commentary. Interviewing one (as a player) after the game is one thing, but having to listen to Papí was unbearable.

Lol yeah he was trying to ride the fence so only focused on interference of the runner contacting the glove and how that rule is the ump's call. The reporter tried to get him to talk about the other aspects that made it so terrible but Torre wouldn't bite.

I'm glad it didn't matter in the end. Pumped for game 7. Hopefully Scherzer is healthy.

Well... I just helped my son tear down the lower unit of his outboard with gears that scattered & sat down at the bottom of the 6th to see what’s up...

I haven’t followed either of these teams all year. Pulling for the Nats, but don’t know why.

That being said, I’d like to see a pitcher throw one at Juan Soto’s jaw.

We generally follow the Rays since they are the affiliation of the Durham Bulls, but I have a son who is a YUGE Nationals' fan, so we've been watching. I don't have anything for/against either team, but for my son's sake, I am glad Washington won. I hate watching Scherzer pitch, it looks so painful.

Why’s that, what did I sleep through?
Squaring up at the pitcher after a swing. Sticking his tongue out at the pitcher. (Wasn’t just a single instance if anything)

Apparently a heckuva player, but more than a little full of himself. Granted, he turned 21 during the Series, but that doesn’t excuse a complete lack of professionalism on the field.

Saw the Nats play in July while I was in DC. Great park to see a day game.

Congrats Nationals. They were left for dead when they were 19-31 but ended the year 93-69. I am happy for Zimmerman who has been a Nat since day one. I am also glad that Bryce Harper was sitting at home wearing a Phillies hat.

Last Baby Shark of the 2019 season!

Didn’t I see/hear a stat that he was the first person on MLB history to be a #1 draft pick and then win a World Series with the team that drafted him? I wouldn’t have guessed that had never happened before.

He is still young and is no more a show boat than Alex Bregman who likes to carry his bat to first. In a World Series that is disrespectful but Soto gave it right back to him as he should have. Both managers called out the players. In the end they are all kids playing a game. Both are top talents. Soto at just 21 has the opportunity to be a generational talent.

He was not only a #1 he was the first player ever drafted by the Nationals. He hit the first Nationals HR in the World Series. He is a local product. Born in DC and went to UVA. It will be sad if this is his last game as a Nat. He has a 18 million option for 2020 which the Nats most likely will not pick up.

The Nationals are currently the oldest team by average as well. Think the median age for them is 31.
