That's not bad. Add water underneath, 5-30ft deep. Then you'd be working on a boat. Every model has many part numbers for the same part. The part type/fit would depending upon SN and if the builder (Joe Bob) got laid Monday (actually more on the Monday bit).

And the battery tray, fuse block come out so a big chunk of wiring harness gets to be pulled thru the fire wall with the dash.

Glad I got rid of my Jeep

What kills me is when the owners come in all proud saying how they got a good deal on one

But they're so highly rated and reliable? Why would you NOT like the choice of every single 40 year old woman and hipster in America?
My wife, a nurse, said the majority of her co-workers have passed the 4-Runner phase and all want Jeeps now.
These are JOOPs, JEEPS have not been made since the CJs!
My dad has an actual JOOP stamped CJ7. 1983 model I believe it is.

assuming that's a heater core?

a REAL jeep owner would just bypass and run without....like most of my old POS

I found the same thing on a 13 month (1 mo out of warranty) old Mazda 25 years ago. Fixed and sold it. Won’t have another.

The mall crawler Jeep guys are just like the wannabe weekend bikers. They buy them because they are supposed to be so tough and badass but they do complete suspension overhauls and engine work as soon as they get them.

Damn.....I'd trade that thing in on a dodge before I'da went through all that.

You’re doing it wrong, Danny boy! If these Canucks can figure it out, surely you can too!

I miss my 4.0, 5spd '95 YJ. Beat the crap out of that thing & it never let me down.

I miss my '77 CJ5 with the 304 V8. I sold it when I was in college. I tried to buy it back from the same guy when my son turned 16. Needless to say, he wouldn't sell it.

Kinda miss my 98 Cherokee . Death wobble I don't miss. Inline 4.0 was absolutely unstoppable.

Yeah the headliner started to fall down. Yes, I replaced brake pads, a high pressure cutoff switch on the AC and a starter. (all were easy shadetree repairs done by yours truly).

But in 187K, that ....was .... it.

Do I understand that this work shown in the photo is what it takes to replace a leaky heater core in a modern Jeep?

Yup . In this case it was clogged up thru half of it. Not allowing heat to drivers side , very little to center and passengers vents. 105 degrees was max output temp. $900 ish later, 145-155 temp out of all vents.

That looks about like when I put a heater core in my Explorer. I didn’t have to pull the harness though. It honestly wasn’t a terrible job but it was rather time consuming.

We had a guy bring a 2 month old Jeep to us to regear because he lifted it. It sat outside one night and it rained. The next morning the floorboards were full of water and the guy acted like that was normal.

Don’t get me started on all the ring and pinion changes Jeep made within the same calendar year and none of them interchange.

Ford dashes are simple compared to the engineering disasters of Jeep

After you unplug everything I think it was 6 or 8 bolts and it was free. Even has dials to locate it when you put it back.
A little rough to wrestle it out the door though.
