A county executive in Maryland has banned a police station from displaying a wooden “thin blue line” flag that was a gift from a local resident.

"The flag provides a symbol of support to some but it is a symbol of dismissiveness to others,” Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said in a note. “Because it is divisive, the flag will not be posted at the 5th District nor in any public space within the Police Department."

The flag, a gift to the 5th District officers from Montgomery County woodworker James Shelton, is labeled by some as a "blue lives matter" flag in response to the "Black Lives Matter" movement.

That should be really good for morale. What a bunch of idiots.

Please remember that once the U.S. flag is altered, such as adding a colored line, it is no longer considered a U.S. flag; it becomes a flag representing the group or person that has altered it to represent themselves.

Personally, I have never agreed with the blue line, or red line, or the yellow line, or the green line, or rainbow lines, or any other changed stripe...just which of the original 13 colonies represented by those stripes is being "hijacked" for the groups purpose?

...however, the 1A allows this, so do with the flag what you will.

I got no problem with it either, display the flag the way it was intended. I understand the concept behind the altered color stripe. The flag is great as it is.
