Anyone ordered one yet ? I just did, wondered if anyone else has and what the condition yours looked to be in. Thanks.

I have one of the 71's accurate A F once I got the fake can off.
Classic firearms loves me lately. I got a Star BM9, the Beretta 81, and a Shockwave from them in the last two months. The M-71 is next on my list if they stay in stock. BTW, the Star is a surprisingly great little gun.

I picked mine up about 3 oc. Just shot it. If these are Police trade ins, mine was issued to somebody that never went to work. 99%+ in appearance and 100% in function.

Now for the bad news....no magazines that I can find on this Planet. Checked every source I have ever used NONE. Classic says ...got none..expecting none. Anybody find any Please let me know.

I just bought a .380 of the same gun and it came with 3 mags....Thank goodness.

Classic Firearms out to give me a small commission lol.
A few mags are available from some of the larger firearms auction sites.

On FB Robertsons is claiming that they are getting 14 Mecgars in stock in Sept.

Buyers in non restrictive states please Note that we will be in stock on modified 14 round Mec-Gars no later than September 10, for $27 each.

Did you do a hand pick of just straight run? What did you choose @chris69

Straight run for me. The FFL guy showed me his. It was ordered at the same time...it was rough as a Cobbbb.

I have bought a lot of stuff from Dan Tobin in PA over the years. He has some of the 81s and I am considering picking one up. He always has hand picked PW Arms import guns. I have never been disappointed. Normally pay a little more than other people but it has been worth it in my experience. This is the Beretta 92s I got from him and a P228. Both were unissued. He somehow always gets the pick of the liter.

I didn’t pay extra for hand pick. I think I just got a generous draw. Classic Firearms has some mixed reviews on condition of their surplus firearms, but I’ve always received firearms from them as described or better.

Mine arrived today and is not nearly as nice as these posted. Some chuckle head wrapped masking tape around the barrel when it was locked back and then released the slide. The area of the grips around one of the screws is so scratched up it looks like it was being tightened by someone who was shaking with the DTs.

I have it disassembled and soaking in some CLP and I’ll mess with it on SUN.

I wish it had turned out differently for you. On the bright side, despite the cosmetic issues it will likely be a fantastic little shooter. Mine has run like a clock, lots of fun to shoot with the almost non-existent recoil.

After some grip removal and deeper cleaning, I am a bit happier. The slide seems to rub pretty hard against the front of the frame. It does that even when I slide it without a barrel or spring. That made it hard to get back together.

I guess I’m just going to have to shoot it. :D

Mags were in stock at Beretta for a hot minute. Looks like they are sold out now but I image they are going to bring in more from Europe.

I checked my email at 1:09, and when I logged in at 1:18 they were out of stock.

Dan's Ammo has 81 mags in bound. I am not sure when but they are coming in. Roberston's Trading Post has some listed on Guns America for $41+ $3 shipping so very close to NIB from Beretta. Dan usual has great pricing on is stuff which is always in excellent condition.

Beretta 81 showed up today. Looks great. It was issued and I believe carried a bit. There is the smallest amount of edge wear on the gun. The grips and grip screws show some wear. The grip screws on the left side of the gun need some surface rust removed, most likely carried by a right hander. The barrel is pristine. It does not look like it was shot much if at all. Front and rear grip strap are beautiful with no wear. Trigger is about what I expected. I was able to get a second mag from Dan. So it came with 2. For the money it is an outstanding gun.

I’m obviously too slow. They are now out of stock. Thanks for the heads up.

I will reach out to Dan and see if I can put together a group but if there is interest.
