I put it on a file server and I have to say I am VERY impressed! I may change the distro on my desktop. Stable Debian. Anti-x. Very very very intuitive. You can use just about any package, and it has a nifty install capability.... AND you can run a very robust live distro straight from USB WHICH HAS ALL YOUR PREFERRED APPS/PACKAGES LOADED ON IT.

Like I said, I am pretty impressed.

If you are a penguin guy, you should look at this.

Hadn't heard of it before today. It looks like it is based, as you put it, on the stable Debian core, with XFCE for the display. What do you like about it and how does it differ from other Linux distributions you've tried?

Patito Feo means A Little Ugly, or Ugly Potato; as far as My Portuguese/Latin root knowledge goes.
Ugly duckling. That's what the distribution site says, referencing the ugly product (Linux) that is actually starting to look like the swan of operating systems.

so far I like the Samba setup especially. Since this is a file server, the phenomenally easy setup is attractive.

Finally, since MEPIS was the distro that really got me into linux, this has a nostalgia factor.

Honestly I had not heard of it, but looks interesting. I used Mepis some time ago and see it is a successor of Mepis.
I used to change distro often but don't have the play time I used to have. Nowadays I mostly use either a Mint or Ubuntu distro with a Cinnamon desktop.
I have an unused laptop I may load it on for a look see.
Thanks

I'll try it next time I format my 5yo's laptop. He uses Linux already! :p

I got around to putting it on my old Core 2 (2.2GHz?) with 4 GB of RAM Toshiba laptop tonight, it is running very well considering the hardware was designed for Vista. I miss low resource distros that run like the wind, this isn't quite there, but feels lightweight.
I will spend some more time with it before considering moving my desktop over.
