I'm getting ready to drastically thin the heard of long guns. I'm pretty much a private person and don't like a lot of strangers around the house unless they are CFF regulars. Due to the current climate, clandestine meet-ups in parking lots don't really interest me. Has anyone ever used Atlas Firearms to sell on consignment?
Will be putting up the following for now:
1903A3
M1 Carbine (need someone that knows an honest value for this and the 03.
Unfired Saiga 12 ga with lots of mags
Calico 9mm
Calico 22
AR50
NIB 1100 Sporting 20 with Rem youth stock and original beautiful walnut original stock.
Couple of semi-custom 308 bolt guns

Also going to turn loose of various uppers: 260, 6.5 creed, 204 heavy barrel, AR5.7, Etc.

Would appreciate any andvce. I don't really like selling stuff but the time has come to bear down on my favorites and let the others find new homes.

Any interest in taking a table at the next Winston show? I’m not sure but you might realize more selling there.

Sorry for not actually answering what you asked, but...couldn't you post some or all of these for sale here and limit potential buyers to supporting members, or people with more than 10 positive feedback results, or some other standard that allows you some confidence that you're not going to be dealing with a bad guy? This would take more time and energy than putting the guns on consignment, and some of them might wind up on consignment anyway, but maybe you'd make enough more money to make it worth a little time? Just a thought.

Back when I lived over there, I always had good experiences dealing with the guys at Atlas. It's been a few years though so I'm not sure who all is working there now. The rule of thumb though is that you would definitely stand to make more trying to sell yourself.

How about a variation on your idea... you advertise here and transfer them at Atlas. That way there's no parking lot shenanigans and you'll only pay a transfer fee instead of the consignment %.

ETA: and for the "not one inch" folks... the man has stated his reasons for avoiding one-on-one transactions.

I live pretty close to Atlas. I have had many transfers happen there and and am 100% happy with them. I have never had anything on consignment there. The one time I took something in they bought it outright from me on the spot.

good luck with tour sales.

I second this. You are the seller, you can choose who you sell to and the requirements thereof, and you skip out on the consignment fees.

What length barrel on the AR57? 6/12/16?

As a supporting member, he already has access to the Member’s Only BST section. ;)

Only thing that hurts is the consignment is the percentage. However......the foot traffic is a bonus.

As a non-supporting member, I didn't know about that.

I know, I know, I know...things have been tight since I joined. I'm getting there. Pretty soon I'll pony up.
Yep. In general, what you’ll find are :

1. Items that are also offered in the normal section, but discount for members
2. Items not posted publicly

It’s just one of the many reasons to join up. :D

@REELDOC , as one who has thinned his own herd recently, I have some relevant experience, good and bad. Here's what I did:
  1. I posted everything here first in the members only BST,
  2. moved them to open Classified after a reasonable period,
  3. consigned some (that were not generating much interest here) with my LGS,
  4. took the last few to a Battery Oaks Meet & Greet
All in all, it was a wash as to which way worked better. The whole process above took me about ten months. Individual sales were the fairest for both parties, and consignment was a cold shower, price-wise. YMMV.

Reply here (or PM) if you'd like more detail. I'll tell you straight up what you want to know, and you can take it for what you will.

I'm new to NC, and definitely new to this forum... but let's not be so hasty by putting too many restrictions on who the buyers can be. I guarantee you i'm still a decent person!
I didn't know about being a supporting member, but I'll probably end up signing up for that soon. I'm from MI and I've "earned" my membership to the state gun board by volunteering at events for the past few years. I bought my membership before that.

Thanks for the advice folks. Developing a plan and getting ready to take pics.

@REELDOC I sold something on consignment at atlas, it was easy, they have lots of foot traffic. It helps I live a mile down the road too.

i tried to sell a gun at an LGS and i had to complete a transfer

had to complete another transfer to get it back

that sucked

Yeah, they cant have guns on premises that arent logged into the books. Unless its a "private ownership" of the owner.... unlogged guns are a real headache if you get a visit. so are logged guns that arent on premises.

Not yet. Will take it back to the range one more time before the first of the year to see if I can find the love.
nooooooooooooooo, it sucks. I need a sucky 6.5. cmonnnnnnnnnn.
