I got the word from a toy collector buddy that the 80th anniversary Red Ryder BB guns were available at Walmart for ~$25, figured the best way to support Walmart was to buy something firearm related

The bank breaker out of the packaging:

Really needs white paint on the front sight if you get one.

Projectiles of choice. I don’t know if they are as good as they say they are, but they still make the same noise the other ones make on a coke can, so it works for me.

Seems to me that it would be a good Christmas present for some youngins. I thought it was fun to relive a little childhood memory, but now I need a lever action .22 with subsonics ;)

I was bought one of those not terribly long ago. The stock is tiny but I shoot cans off the trash barrel no problem.

I forget how to locate him, but there is an old Injun (Native 'Merican) who makes full size stocks for them.

The next size up is only $30 at Walmart I'll probably get one of those some time and find a kid who needs a BB gun

Both my kids got them last year for Christmas. At the time she was 7 and he was 4 (5 in February)

We pull them out a few times a month. I’ve got a few saw blades painted white in the brush line of the woods and some step flashing turned on edge nailed to a stick closer in. Probably 10 targets in all. The kids love it and it teaches them the fundamentals really well.

Good for you on picking one up @CarolinaColtCollector

You'll shoot.........never mind. I was just hunting for the Christmas Story today to see if it was streaming yet.

My dad had bought all the greatgrands a Red Ryder BB gun before he passed away last December. Now we’ve got 3 more coming, one was here last month, my daughter is having hers next week, and my nephew’s wife is due in March. I’m going to pick up for the Old Man. I’ve never missed someone so much in my life! Wish these 3 could have met their Papaw!

I know what you mean hammer21....i took my dads Garands and 600rds of ammo out of his estate to a scout camp a few weeks ago and let those kids shoot all they wanted. Dad always loved introducing kids to the M1 and history. He would have loved it

I ended up nabbing a Henry .22 for $250 from a local shop closing its doors. Running subsonics through it has let me introduce about 6 people to shooting without initial loud noises and heavy recoil. One person liked running the lever gun enough that they moved on to my .45-70 later that day. :)

If you really want to be tactical - there is a 3d printed rail section that replaces the rear sight. I got one for my daughter when I bought hers and put a cheapo red dot on it. It actually works pretty good.
