In a cnn website articles they talk about 'In 46 weeks this year, there have been 44 school shootings' Really??? I must have been under a rock. Oh but dare to scroll down in the info and look at what they claim and just think for 5 seconds what that info tells you, about the situation. https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/15/us/2019-us-school-shootings-trnd/index.html

I feel for anybody involved in a shooting but lets get the info correct before we preach on it.

Without even looking, I'm betting the Butler HS (Matthews, NC) shooting was listed. While it certainly did happen at a school during school hours, it was not what we picture a "school shooting" to be--and you can bet a lot of darn money that the editors know how readers interpret that phrase.

EDIT: Nevermind...the Butler shooting was October 2018. But my theory is still correct: they're using events that aren't what everyone pictures as a "school shooting." The one that involved BB guns, for example.

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”

Lies, damn lies, and statistics. There are 132,853 K-12 schools in the us.

Even if there were 44 actual school shootings that is a .033% chance of your kids school being in any way involved. Much less it actually being your child.

I would hazard to say more than half of those "school shootings" were actually students discharging a firearm during school hours at other teachers or students and not gang bangers after hours, cops having negligent discharges, or BB guns and the like.

I wonder how many kids died in accidents on the way to school?

Lotta stuff like this:

"A 21-year-old man died from a gunshot wound after being shot in a parking lot near a fraternity house at the University of Oregon."

"A 46-year-old man was shot multiple times by his neighbor at Eaglecrest High School amid an ongoing argument over a parking spot. The victim died from his injuries."

Yeah, school shootings lol.
