That's pretty much what I remember Dad telling me once, when I was in junior high.

Talking with my older brothers years later, it seems they all got that at about the same age. Interestingly, we all came to the same conclusion: Mom was the one to call if we ever ended up in jail.

Mr. Dickey, my high school electronics class teacher, used to tell us not to believe everything he said...to go out and verify it ourselves.
 
Do however you feel led, but be prepared to accept the consequences.
This is another from my dad,and the consequences were generally a whupping with a belt
I sure remember that feeling. But looking back I can honestly say I deserved every whupping I got .
