This article reviews the ballistic tools that long range shooters use to determine elevation and windage adjustments for a particular shot. Ballistic tools and concepts used by long range shooters include:

  • Data on previous experience (dope)
  • Range finding (GPS, maps, laser rangefinders, and target milling)
  • Ballistic chronographs
  • Ballistic calculators (websites, phone apps, devices, BDC turrets/reticles)
  • Atmospheric data (sources of station pressure, temperature, and humidity)
  • Wind data (estimating wind speed and direction)
  • BDC dials/dial labels/reticles
  • Inclination (uphill/downhill shooting)
  • Latitude and compass heading (Coriolis effects)
At the end, this article also presents example combinations of ballistic tools to illustrate how to assemble a complete toolkit for making elevation and windage adjustments.

I just use a dope card and throw some grass in the air for wind. I need to step my game up.

The link does not work.
