Used case in your local gunshop? Pawn shop?
Armslist? Gunbroker? Here? Gun shows?

I've probably found my best deals on various forums I'm a member of.

Forums like this one mostly & every once in a while I’ve gotten a deal on gunbroker. Rarely in a pawn or Lgs bc I procrastinated over how I didn’t need it even though it was a heck of deal & then luckily someone else bought it.

One day I’ll learn it’s not about need. Need was met long ago.

None of the above.

I shop gun.deals, keep an eye on forums, and certain fb pages.

I rarely find better used deals than new since too often people want top dollar and I don’t have the desire to wheel and deal when I can buy new for $20 more. Some people enjoy that though.

BST here and the bulletin board at the club. I don’t even walk in to retail shops anymore to look at guns.

Some LGS will negotiate on price, especially for repeat customers.
Pawn shops are usually way over priced, but I know of one exception, and they also will negotiate on price, especially for repeat customers.

Sometimes, just finding the right item seems like a great deal. ;)

  • Gun Broker but you have to be discipline enough to let some items go. I have gotten stellar deals there.
  • Local Pawn Shop in Forrest City NC. Mainly because my tastes are not in vogue and people trade stuff in because its old and not a Glock.
  • Forum classified like here, 1911addicts etc... The manufacturer specific ones can also be a good source.
  • Dan's Ammo for Surplus guns.
  • I also look at gun deals and if I am looking at something new I put it into their search feature. https://gun.deals
I cannot remember the last time I bought a new gun just walking into a store seeing it and picking it up.

My best deals have been from individuals walking around @ gun shows carrying items for sale. Usually dealers will lowball these folks so there are some fantastic bargains to be had.

I don't know how pawn shops ever sell anything they take in on pawn, as they usually slap full retail prices for the item as new on it. When you begin negotiating from full retail price that doesn't really give me much hope.

I got great deals through GUNBROKER for a new Remingon RM380 and a new Keltec Sub2000. (I got a fair deal on a PMR-30 several years ago through the internet -- driving to the dealer here in NC. It's only been recently that I've seen better prices on the PMR-30 from places like CDNN.

Those are about the only NEW guns I've gotten in about 15 years -- all the rest coming from forums like this one. I've also bought, sold, or traded quite a few weapons that way to with the two NC forums. I've bought or sold through some of the national forums (like The High Road and The Firing Line).

All have been good deals with honest people. I'm particularly comfortable buying from CDNN.

If I want the piece, I'll lowball right at 25% of what their asking price is. Which as you know is right at or just below retail/Mfg. price.
Let's get the whining machine and sad sob stories out of the way.
Their come back will be pretty close to half between the two of you. If I want it at that meet in the middle price, I'll hit them with it and be ready to drop it and walk away if they would rather keep it than sell it.

local forums, and i wait. gun.deals is good. reddit.com/r/gundeals sometimes. It's pretty rare that I bu a gun new from a retail shop - only if there is a sale matched with a rebate or something to bring the price down below "online" prices. sometimes i'll see a used something at a slightly high price in a gun/pawn shop and try to haggle to a fair price. mostly forums though.

For pistols, I shoot glocks only, so Blue label is the best price. For ARs I just shop different places online for good deals when I’m building a new one.

Lately, local shops and local Armslist listings. I want to see and handle the guns.
Sitting home with a bad cold the other day, and just browsing Armslist. Lots of ripoff artists posting guns listed on other sites, be very careful., I’ve turned in a few myself. :)

. Looking at the NC area only, this gun pops up a couple minutes later, and only 3 miles away. Hmmm, ok, don’t need it but.... it’s local, real local. Go look

He had the box, paperwork and like new firearm.
Sick as a dog, I take off my jammies and jump into some sweats to meet the seller at the local Mickey D’s.

I have a slew of 45’s but the price was too good, and no tax + transfer.
I’m good unless cubrock has something unusual next week like a TL or MR73. :D

I’ll take it!!!!!! ;)

I've gotten most of my handguns from the site here,Got AR's from PSA & Bear Creek arsenal.. Last new guns that I bought came from Lawman's ( Ruger PC carbine) and DPC pawn & gun in Roxboro( Glock and a1911) . Best deals were on this site and another site.

The best advice I can give anyone looking to add to their collection is to get a good transfer dealer. Pick one that will accept transfers from non-FFLs. I am good friends with my dealer. He charges me $15 which I am happy to pay. Mine will also ship a gun I have sold via USPS for $10 plus the actual shipping. I have his info as a PDF which I forward to anyone I buy something from. They ship it to him I show up shoot the shit and then transfer the gun. I have found that the local market is not big enough to offer most of the things I am looking for. I have to look outside my local area to find the gems I seek so a good transfer dealer is essential. I have built this type of relationship everywhere I have lived over the past 15 years.

I've gotten some really good deals from CFF'ers
I check out https://gun.deals/ regularly
PSA blows out stuff sometimes, I have gotten good deals on non-PSA stuff.
I don't have the patience or inclination for armslist buggery.
Edit: I also got two smoking rifle deals on GunBroker

The prices people charge here are laughable, are kidding me lol. I bite my tongue on a daily basis, struggling not to post a link to the same gun, NEW for less. Budsgunshop.com has the best prices pretty much period. When I buy used, I want a huge chunk off retail. I'm cheap that way. Ok, flame on....

This used to be true but it is not anymore. Buds used to be the cheapest because they were the first to drop ship everything from distributors. Now lots of people do that. I personally have go to vendors for different brands. I have a CZ/Dan Wesson guy. A high end 1911 guy etc... with the different search tools online now you can find the best deals online for what you are looking for as long as you have a good transfer dealer.

People who price stuff to high in the classifieds 99% of the time bought through a traditional brick and mortar at retail pricing.

Lately I buy most of my used guns from my LGS, and they're usually used but in great shape. I have a tabletop FFL who takes layaway that gets me in alot of trouble if I let him - I call him the crack dealer!
Have alot of older friends that are slowly selling off their collections, and I generally get great deals from those friends. I also buy online and I have found great deals by using gun.deals and other search engines to find exactly what I want.

FWIW I have never bought into Bud's pay-to-play scheme, and they've never seen a dime of my money. Grab-A-Gun in Texas are great folks to deal with online. Ain't nobody got time for Armslist or GunBroker shenanigans, with their $40-up shipping on a gun I can get most anywhere, or locally at a gunshow.

Ive bought 2 used Les Baer 1911's and 1 new one in the past 2 years off Gunbroker. At the prices they went for I could not afford not to buy them. GB's search engine sucks and it will give different results at different times on the same query. One of the guns had no bids as it just popped up on a search 1 time and didnt show up on the same search again. I was the only bidder because I was the only one that found it and had it on my watch list. Go figure.

Bud's was cheapest price when I was looking for a Colt 6920LE, I opted to send a check rather than paying CC fees. I have gotten good deals at grabagun, the http://sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/ got some really good deals there too.

In the last two years I’ve gotten a three good deals here and Black Friday sales.
I’ve won good deals previously, by knowing what I want, willing to wait for long periods to get a deal, gone to pawn/lgs knowing what it’s worth to me, having that much cash on pocket, spreading it out on the counter counting out loud, then putting it back on my pocket. Usually a manager steps out and says I’ll take it. If not, I already decided my walk away number.
To you grammar nazis, I know that’s way too many commas. :p

I’ve gotten most of my guns from the bottom of the lakes where you guys fish. :D

The best way to get good deals is to know what it is you are looking for. To know what a "good deal" is and have the money to buy it when you see it. Patients is a huge factor.

Agreed, and please never be insulted by a “it’s not worth that to me”. I was only hungry once for an item, got ripped off by a mfg, then waited a couple months for what I wanted. I was thrilled to get a Mega ambi upper and lower matched set for $250 a month after Columbine.
BTW, Eric at LOKI needs to pay for cashing mine, and many other’s deposit checks for $1K+ before he fled the country.
