Which safe

All else being equal, which one has thicker steel? Which one weighs more?

I'm going to talk to them before I make my final decision, granted they are at the Dixie Gun show next weekend. Unfortunately they aren't marketed very well and it's a 2 hour drive to their location.

Greg is one of the best guys you’ll ever meet. When I tell you it’s worth the 2 hour drive I’m not kidding at all. He doesn’t have to advertise because word of mouth and his reputation. They’re on fb if your on there look them up. He will literally custom build it to your liking. He made mine in hugger orange and some other stuff unique.

Another Drake ... to me they maker a higher quality safe not in just materials but in workmanship. They are a couple hundred bucks more but you get a pretty much custom setup. Also think about delivery and installation of a 1,000 lbs plus safe ... Drake’s crew knows exactly what they are doing from doorways to stairs ... carpet to hardwood. You can save money on the price but the intangibles you gain from a Drake are well worth it.

Between Liberty and a champion, Champion. I have a Liberty and a friend has the Champion. The Champion is much nicer quality, definitely a well built and may be my next.

I have 2 Drake's, custom colors (blue not orange)
Worth the drive from Wilmington!

I also have a Drake but I'm located just South of Roxboro. It's a 15 minute drive to his shop. Greg personally delivered and installed my safe. The whole crew are good people. But to be honest, his safe was the first and only one I looked at so I don't know what the other manufacturers have to offer.

I didn't shop or compare either.
A friend had a Drake and he did do research, on his word, I ordered.

Had my Liberty for 20+ years. Great safe for the money. Like anything else you can spend a little or you can spend a lot. In my dream house I will build a vault/panic room with a vault door to the garage and a hidden door in the house.

Don't go cheap on the lock mechanism. That Champion pictured appears to have a La Gard electric keypad. I'd avoid those. In the case between the two you've listed, without any modifications, I'd go Liberty.

^^^This

While I was researching my safe, I found out that there are only a small handful of (mostly Chinese) companies that make those electronic locks. A couple of those companies products were notorious for a particular capacitor failing and people being locked out.
To be fair, this was about five years ago. They may have gotten better, but I, personally, still do not trust them.
Imho, the combo dials are the way to go.

There is also a combination electric/dial lock that can be added that is EMP proof. It's not cheap (about $500+install), but that's what I plan to add to my Liberty safe going into the new home.
