As of late, forum staff has had to edit a slew of posts, that aren’t in the basement, for language. We would like to remind everyone that f bombs and other inappropriate words are not welcome in the open areas of the forum. This is a gentle reminder to please be cautious of your posts location before you hit the “post reply” tab. There are several repeat offenders that have had quite a few posts edited this last week. STOP.

From here on out we will be giving warnings, spankings, and time outs for language edited posts in open forum.

Thank you,

Forum Staff

Not trying to be that guy, but I've seen a bit of the same from the staff which led me to believe the rules had become a bit more relaxed.
We all need reminders from time to time. Y’all can spank me too

Report us as needed, nobody's perfect

Fair enough. Simply asking because I was seeing it and assumed it wasn't really being enforced, not trying to be some internet warrior calling anybody out (I think that position is heavily jockeyed already)

To clarify, swearing okay in Basement, Tortuga, and paid member's section? Sorry to be obtuse, but crass language is important to me.

So what level of language is unacceptable? I know f-bombs are out but what about prime time television language? I speak in cuss words, so I can only do so much...
I try to avoid course language in the open forums.

Perfect example. I see my previous post in this thread was modified to remove a mild invective. Before posting, I looked and mistakenly thought this thread was in the members only section. Had I realized it wasn't, I wouldn't have posted as I did with the mild words.

An honest mistake on my part; not something that should warrant harsh action.

While I think it's laudible to keep this place, shall we say, family friendly we also shouldn't be getting too uptight.

This site has 20 staff members. Do we really require that much moderating?

Which words can't we say in posts?
If you wouldn’t hear it on Sunday night tv, please don’t use them in threads not in the basement or tortuga.

How many of those staff members are on at any given time. Ever pay attention to that? Not being sarcastic. That’s a real question. This is a busy website. We aren’t all seeing the same posts at the same time. And the reason for this thread should be self explanatory . Things get out of hand from time to time. Just a reminder. We’ve all done it. No need to make more or read more Into than what it is, just a reminder.

Frankly, I am as offended by the poor grammer and spelling as I am the swearing.

I have learned to glance over and keep going. Life's too short.

That said, rules are rules and everyone needs to be reminded of their existence every now and then.

Thanks for that. As for me I’m uneducated and try to do my best when spelling. Spell check helps but when it comes to proper grammar I’m lost. At least I’ve stopped using so many commas:) I do try though.

Thank you for the lack of commas

We could all also do with a reminder that the mods on this forum are also volunteers, have jobs, and are not constantly refreshing every single thread to make sure language is appropriate or the comments are in line with the rules.

The maple-syrup-lovin-commie-canadian site has/had some kind of filter that changes carolinafirearmsforum.com to something else....maybe ya'll can filter the f-bombmaximus to "I love My Little Pony"?

We can do that but you can't set it by subforum so it would apply to all sections.
