7A86A13A-CC94-4E60-9FB8-BDB4D40D4814.jpeg I picked this up today. An old M 416 1/4 ton trailer. Solid as a new one! Most of them are rusted to pieces. I had my fingers crossed that I was going to make it home as the tires were probably original! Cracked and dry rotted! I got her home and to the tire store for some new rubber. I started just knocking the surface rust off her to see how she was. I’m going to drop her off and have her sand blasted next week and paint her up to match the Jeep. I can’t get the picture to load. I’ll post it later.

That's a perfect jeep trailer for sure!

A few decades ago I used to pull one around behind an M151A1.

Good find!

Yeah that’s a great find. I’ve never found one that I could afford. The 3/4 ton and 1 tons I can pick up for $500 buck or so at auction. Those 1/4 tons everyone wants a grand or more in worse shape than that one.

What size tire did you use?
IIRC, they used a size that has become obsolete. I have one also, needs tires.

Ive seen the M416s go as high as $3k in decent shape. I’ve got about $800 in this one and it’s solid as a rock! No rust.

7.50x16 marrow tread. It’s a little taller than the original ones but I’m good with that.

Don’t paint it. Rhino line the entire trailer inside and out. I did my service truck bed, inside compartments, and the lower sections of my Dodge D250. Cheaper, rust proof, and scratches are nothing to touch up.

This is a great idea.

I want it the same color as the Jeep. I’ve already got the same wheels and tires to match. It’ll be slick when it’s done.

PROTECT THAT DATA PLATE!!! That’s a huge part of its character and story ... along with its lights.

Those steel rims on it now sure look original ... preserve and tuck them back for the future.

I will, I’m also saving the 11 point plug as well. I think it had the original tires as bad as they were dry rotted and cracked! The inner tubes were the only thing holding air to get me home! I was going to lengthen the tongue and put a basket on it to carry my cooler and a couple jerry cans but after buying a pintle hitch I think I’m going to leave it alone. I can’t wait to get this thing done!
