So Im considering having my car vinyl wrapped for a quick/cheap alternative to paint (I cant afford to repaint right now), and was curious if any of you have used anyone locally.
If you have, or know someone well that has, who would you recommend?

Not looking for graphics or anything, just white or silver or something.

Have you considered contacting a professional detail service to see if they can restore and possibly ceramic coat it? For an MR2 restoration unless it is real bad probably would run $250ish. If it is possible to restore it to a nice point and you’d consider a ceramic coat it (5-10 year life) they’d probably do a package restoration and coating that would run $1000-1200.

Not sure how bad it is. Tried a clay bar and then a wax job?

I bought an ‘89 truck back in about ‘06 and it was amazing the difference a clay bar treatment and fresh wax made. Of course if there’s scratches or missing paint, it won’t fix those issues.

I’ve had a car painted at Peaches and a truck at Econo. Both inexpensive paint jobs but turned out fairly decent.

There is a place in Clemmons called The Color Spot??? that does wraps, bannners and what not. I know its off Kinnamon road but I have no idea what it costs.

Wait, can you cerakote a car?!

I have a good detailing guy in SC and works with people all over the region. I will reach out to him tomorrow and see if he has a recommendation for someone who can wrap the car.

I have 2 cars that I had paint correction on and then ceramic coated. If there is major damage to the paint a ceramic coating won't help but a if it is just swirls or and scratches in the clear coat it can be polished out. Ceramic coatings are not all equal but the good ones are amazing. They make the car easier to keep clean, wash and offer some level of protection.

I used this Gtechniq. https://usa.gtechniq.com/products/auto/crystal-serum-ultra

This one has been coated for a year. The rain still runs right off it.

This one has been coated the day after I picked it up.

The paint is trash, I dont think it can come back.
The big problem is the plastic bumpers, the paint is REALLY bad on those. Just faded so terribly

Wrapping is more expensive than paint. It’ll cost you at least 2k to wrap a car.

A good detailer can bring those bumpers back to life with certain products. A detail will not correct really bad paint. I will let you know what my guys says.

Yeah it can be more than cheap paint but if you are going to really prep the car properly the cost of a paint job really goes up.

Agreed. But I’ve seen his car. He’s not going to pay 2 grand to wrap it much less paint it. Lol.

Quality paint and body work can run upwards of 10k. He’s looking to be under $500.

OK thanks for the clarification. I would look to try to restore vs paint at that price.

Im think about 1200 for paint, maybe 15. I dont want to go much more than that.

can get an idea on paint in this, but the bumpers just look so much worse than the body

Have you tried anything on the bumpers yet or is paint actually coming off them? Another possiblity is getting someone to paint just the bumpers as option that might save you some money.

I have tried nothing on the bumpers, just severely faded.
There's only two spots on the whole car where paint is missing, a nick in a rear fender and on the top of the rear spoiler.
Three very small dings on the passenger rear 1/4 panel. Other than that the body is straight, no rust.
