Why did I wait so long? My wife caught a black Friday sale so I ordered the starter kit. Cheapest handle they had, the Core, and it came with 10 blades. Been using it about a week and I am thoroughly impressed. I get bad razor burn on my neck with disposables. That is completely gone. I can shave against the grain with these and get a ridiculously close shave. I didn't go all out with the creams and stuff, just Barbasol right now. Still works great. They are running 25% off right now so I went and bought a years worth of blades. Planning on changing them twice a week. If you have been thinking about it it's worth a look. So far I could not be happier with this handle. I might opt for a nicer, and heavier one, in the future. The Core is a bit light so I have you can't just rely on the weight to do the cutting. But that has not been an issue so far. And the all steel ones do get a bit pricey. But the Core is a great price for a starter handle at $20 right now.

I like my double edged blades personally. To me it's nice to be able to rotate and keep going if it started to clog up.

Totally agree the new stuff just doesnt come close, and the $ savings is a good thing too!

I get a pretty close and smooth shave, against the grain, with the Fusion (6 or 7 blade IIRC and non disposable). Can you compare them?

They claim the multiple blades contribute to razor burn and knicks. It seems to be the case for me. If they work for you no need to change.

I can tell you the last time my face was this smooth I was 10. One thing I have learned is to shave normal first, re lather my chin, then shave against the grain to finish up.

Iā€™ve got a Viking Blade Double Edge. I love it for shaving my face. Didnā€™t take me but a couple times to realize my head, while it looks round, isnā€™t smooth enough for something that sharp. I knocked off a few of the lumps on my head and bled like I needed a transfusion.

yeah heads bleed like a stuck hog young or old lol guess thats one reason I don't shave my head

Been using a safety razor for a few weeks.. its awesome. I spent more time unclogging a cartridge type than I did shaving, and I think it is a better shave to boot.

Answered my question before I even asked.

Old school safety razor and Shave Secret shave oil. If you haven't tried it I would highly recommend it.

Have the mug and soap brush, straight razor, etc. Straight razor is good but sometimes I shake a bit so it is retired... I am stubborn but not stupid.

Any lumps that get knocked off need to come off. Keep on shaving that gourd with the sharpest razor available grasshoppa. The bleeding will eventually stop after all of those unnecessary lumps are removed from that gourd.

Only then will yo gourd look as good as your Paw Paw's. That is all.

I usually shave twice a year. Once in late spring and again about mid summer. Other than that I keep my winter coat all the time.

Yes, some people use chopsticks too. Even though a smart people came up with forks and spoons to make life better. Do you carry a SA 6ā€ revolver too? :p

Would you wanna be shot with a SA 6" revolver? Inquiring minds want to know. And the forks and spoons were for people who just couldn't figure out how to use the chopsticks. LOL

Not too many fat Asians.

Sorry. Just couldn't help myself.

Sometimes I'll carry a 3" Bird Head Single Action, I have 2. Love a big, fat, 6 thrower.

I use a Merkur Futur and I like it. My wife however seems to love the Taylors of Old Bond Street sandalwood shaving cream. Quite a few other women seem to like it pretty well also.
I do the whole routine with the badger brush and lathering up the cream. Shaving has always been one of those things that I just did to get it over with but it has turned into a morning ritual that quite honestly helps me focus for the rest of the day. I donā€™t know if itā€™s just having to slow down and actually concentrating on the task at hand or if itā€™s the sandalwood oil but I notice a difference in my attitude and my ability to focus. I did slice my cheek once because I lost focus and I did that with it set on a 4. It never moves from the 6 position now.
