New guy here currently in Ladson, recently moved down south from Indiana. So far really enjoying this "winter" weather lol! In the near future I will be going through the process of getting my SC CWP, seems to be a little more involved than getting my IN lifetime permit.

Welcome, we're happy to have you with us.

Welcome to the CFF Family!!

Greetings and welcome to CFF! Happy to have you with us.

I don’t think they even sold Duke’s at any of the grocery stores where I lived up there
Welcome aboard!

You must first abandon your sinful ways, and embrace the Duke's!

Oh, and then, you must make your BBQ choice wisely!

Welcome, some good folks around these parts.

Even those who have no taste in Mayonnaise!

Hellmans, he's a yankee

Well...there's "involved" and then there's "pain in the *ss".

In SC, you need to take the concealed carry class...call it about 50 bucks. Then it's fill out the application, send it in with a set of prints and the fee and you'll get it in a few weeks.

Being from Lafayette, Indiana originally, they used to make it a royal PITA way back when I got my first few permits in Indiana. (Mid-80s on)

Indiana is a "shall issue" state. HOWEVER, the Lafayette PD could still make it a PITA.

FIRST you had to go to the LPD downtown to get the application. BUT WAIT! You couldn't just GO there and get it...you had to go there and get it the ONE DAY OF THE WEEK that they would allow for it...between the hours of 2 and 3 in the afternoon.

THEN you had to fill out the form...which said "typed or neatly printed". BUT WAIT! LPD REQUIRED you to TYPE the form out. So you were NOT going to get the form filled out in time to turn it in on the same day...which meant you would have to take time off work AGAIN the following week so you could drop the form (and their processing fee) off on that ONE day between 2 and 3 pm.

THEN you had to come back the NEXT week to get the form BACK from them. Guess when? Yep, that ONE day between 2 and 3 pm.

What you got was the form you filled out and a Lafayette PD letterhead form letter which said "We really don't think he needs this because blah, blah, blah."

Then you put it all in an envelope with the state processing fee and mailed it off.

About a week or two later you'd get your permit. A tissue-paper thin pink (or some other such color) piece of paper about 4 inches square which you could fold up and put in your wallet. But you could NOT laminate it, because that would make it durable or something.

Ah Lafayette, not too far away from where I'm from. Little town called Denver, blink and you'll miss it, about an hour from Lafayette. I worked at Grissom AFB for about 19 years up until I moved here last month.

The LTCH process is quite a bit easier nowadays, I went the lifetime route a couple years ago. Fill out the application and pay on the ISP website, schedule finger prints at the local sheriff's dept which you also do online after submitting the application (pay again), local PD or sheriff send prints info to ISP, then wait....when I did mine a few years ago there was a huge back log in processing so it took a couple months. Eventually the pink card shows up and finally they switched to a plastic card instead of the old terrible paper ones!

Lol! I’ll have to pick up some Duke’s then and see what it’s all about.

As for BBQ, I like it all, I just can’t stick with one region. As a rookie just getting into smoking, I like to try all kinds of stuff.. sad that my smoker is stuck in storage until we get out of this apartment living.

:mad: That's one thing I don't miss about apartment living. Everything is stuck in storage and if you need something it's ALWAYS in the back. LOL
