Can we get a transfer cost thread going?

This.Right.Here

$20 per stripped lower with no multiples discount is nuts on a $50 item. Especially since CHP holders don't even do anything but fill out a form and show ID to file. 5 minutes worth a work, $60 for 3 lowers
Yeah, I had to write off a local dealer right around the corner from my house in Garner after they shafted me. $30 transfer each for receiving 2 PSA lowers. so $60 transfer fees for two lowers from a repeat local customer! I refuse to visit them anymore.

James Parrish at New Life Taxidermy & Guns In Garner, NC is great to deal with. $20 transfers and he can get good prices on ordering various firearms. He can’t compete with PSA or Bud’s but I choose to support local businesses. He is an NFA item dealer as well.

I've used Ship my Gun this year. No hassel at all. They provide a paid shipping label for FedEx. You take the gun to your local FedEx office and they package and ship. I sent a handgun from SC to Co for $29.

James Johnson Firearms in Reidsville. He's a good dude, and very flexible about pickup hours since he works out of his home. $25 transfers and has beaten or gotten damn close to any price I've asked him about. Except Magpul bits.

Since it has been 2 years since I had them do a transfer, I’m tagging @Button Pusher to see if he will chime in.
Not sure, I use a different LGS for my Bud"s transactions. TSA us no longer collecting sales tax on the transfer fee.

I bought a couple of the Virginia 15 lowers on an impulse, and had them shipped to Carolina Gun Runners. I picked them up tonight and was charged $30 plus tax for each one, $64 and change total. While I like the service there, and will continue to do business with them, I will not be doing transfers there in the future.

I guess when you mean actual business you are referring to a brick and mortar store front. He is not that. He does run a business though and not only does very reasonable transfers but gets firearms at better prices than any shop I’ve visited around here. It’s worth giving him a call if you are looking for a specific firearm. He can’t beat PSA on prices obviously but everything else he has quoted me has been extremely reasonable price wise.

Contact number is 919-815-7701. Again tell him Kevin sent you. I’ve probably been to over 40 shops over the years and for my transfers I don’t go through anyone else.
I should have read this thread again before I ordered. I just checked, and Pop-N-Shots is on file with PSA. Good to know!

I pay $15 at Flip Flop Firearms in Bostic, NC.

I believe SMG now uses UPS. At least they did my last shipment. I also found out it was cheaper for me to use UPS Next Day Air Saver recently, they were discounting 30%. It has to be there the next day only, not by any set time, so Air Saver is much cheaper.

Etowah Pawn brokers is just down the road from me, this was my first time stopping in. After looking around and chatting some I inquired about shipping two lowers to them and was happy to learn it would cost a total of $20 for the both of them.

Mac Gun Worx on Franklin Blvd in Gastonia, NC.

$20 transfer fee and $15 for veterans. I have paid as little as 10 dollars before. Also, before thanksgiving if you bring a bag of can goods the transfer is free. Tiffany is great to deal with, not much new gun stock with some used guns and consignments, but can get about anything you want.

Greensboro area
Gate City Gun and Pawn $25
Powers Firearms $35

May not be the cheapest around town but both great people to work with.

In the Wake Forest/Youngsville area, call Roy over at Pop-N-Shots. IIRC, he only charges $15 or $20 for the first firearm, and $5 for any additional firearms purchased on the same form. He is a home based FFL and a really nice guy. I highly recommend him!

Second that. Great guy to deal with. I don’t go to anyone else in the area now after finding him.

Coleman Defense in Durham is a kitchen-table FFL that does transfers for $20. He did 3 transfers combined for me for $20 total.
Very nice guy and would recommend.

Durham Wildlife Club has an FFL and will do free transfers for members

Rivertown Gun depot in Conway, SC hit a buddy of mine for $75 on a gun he bought from PSA. They were on the vendor list the PSA site had on file and he didn’t check the price before hand, just had it shipped there. I won’t be doing any business with them.

RAD Industries, LLC in Graham, $25

Worth mentioning after using LKN pawn a ton the last year or so I will not be using them any longer. They are now requiring a ccw/pistol permit for stripped lowers because “that’s what the sherif told them to do”.

Absolute bs.

Adventure Outfitters Winterville NC (near Greenville NC) $25.00.

Great guys to deal with. Transferred a 10/22 target from Palmetto State yesterday. Smooth transaction. Good guys. Tiny little shop. But well stocked.
