Anybody have one implanted?

Seems that may be the next step in pain management for me. I have 6 weeks to decide if its something I want to pursue

I never had one implanted but I did use the unit that clipped to your belt about 20 years ago. It did help some

That's encouraging

5 weeks until the trial.

Any particular reason you didnt do the implant?

My back started getting better. Not cured or totally without pain. I lost a bunch of weight, exercised, and it got tolerable . I understand where you are coming from. Real back pain is excruciating. I still see a chiropractor.

Mine is for back and lower leg Dr says he can put the leads for pain anywhere.

Neighbor had his removed. Would malfunction & burn him. I'd be very leery.
I actually had that conversation with the neurosurgeon about that today

Apparently the "new" version had an external controller with preset programs. and an emergency kill button

This type stuff is exactly why I'm asking here. Real world experiences

I don't have a dog in this fight - but how long ago was that? Technology improves dramatically in the medical field and this is something I hear a lot, but it's in reference to something that happened a decade or more ago.

Just playing devil's advocate.

About a year & a half ago.

To be honest, a good chiropractor and occasional Celebrex has helped me as much as anything. Surgery is something I have avoided.

I'm going for lumbar facet injections Thursday. Doing everything I can to avoid surgery.

I tried a 10's unit a few years ago, not sure if it is similar to your implant or not. Didn't do a thing for my nerve pain but it maybe kind of did something for the muscle spasms.

Wife did the trial and it didn't work for her at all.
She ended up with a hockeypuck under her skin that releases morphine right into her spinal cord near the nerves causing the problem.

where are you still getting celbrex, and i wonder if i'm still healthy enough to take it. i should ask.
unfortunately my reason for takign it is bad knees, and those made me fat, and being fat is a reason not to get it...

Yuck.. sorry man, that sucks.
I got hurt in 2002, back has been royally screwed ever since. I had unavoidable knee surgery a few years ago and nearly died from a PE.

I'm even less interested in back surgery or any surgery after the PE.

Celebrex is a trade name for cecoxifib or something like that. I can get the prescription filled through family doctor now. I only take it as needed. A month prescription will last about 4 months. It is generic now and is cheap compared to what it used to be I used to take vyvance years ago but it was taken off the market. That was the best for reducing inflammation.

Well, I thought about posting this very topic, Thanks for beating me to it!

I have had 4 knee replacements, 2 back surgeries and I am in a similar boat.

About a month ago got a 4 layer lumbar nerve ablasion where they burn the nerves on the L and R side of the spine at the L3, L2, L1 and S1. Marginally effective for me. It was explained by the pain mgmt folks at Wake Forest that sometimes additional nerves will get inflamed when you block others. I have very bad arthritis which leads to stenosis in time.

Anyway, am currently getting ready to get nerve blocks in both knees because the knee bone is connected to the elbow bone and that makes me walk funny.

Back to the topic, I will be probably getting a spinal stimulator put in because I really can't control it anymore. I've been on the Tramadol, Naprosyn, Celebrex, Percocet, Oxicodone trip for years and then Fentnyl patches for years after that. I am tired of the pain and pissed off that most of my hobbies are now undoable. I haveca partially restored '69 Dart in the shop I will never finish most likely.

I have been told the newer stimulators have amuch better rate of pain reduction, are adjustable and much more trouble free. Supposedly there will be 10-12 leads from the contoller to the nerves on the lower 5 or 6 joints of my lumbar.

I gotta try it! Bad enough I'm an old ugly fat man, I need to be a more mobile old ugly fat man.

You have me scared now! I'm due for one soon and I'm praying for it to be a one and done deal.

Don't be scared. You met me, I am not a small person and I have always been very active.

I used to run many miles every week in the Corps. Even after I left the infantry I used to carry heavy tool boxes long distances and jump up and down off helicopters of all types. Crashed twice - that didn't help either. I never thought I would live this long so I never figured it would be a problem.

The truth is us full figured girls are hard on the parts! Besides I had a zipper tattooed on the L knee so it will be easier the next time.
