Lifetime warranty on tools and other ramblings

Harbor Freight is doing a huge expansion. When I lived near the OP the closest Harbor Freight was Raleigh. Hopefully this means they're successful, not overextending themselves.

I stopped by the Harbor Freight in Winterville on Friday. The associate told me they were going to be opening a store in (little) Washington.

Agree HD was very aggressive on tools 21 years ago, our store manager told us at a whole store meeting, a wrench is a wrench, if it is broken hand them a Husky. :)

I needed a 8mm 3/8" deep socket and got one at Auto Zone, good quality for the price.

Fundamentally, if its made of the right steel and not designed by an alien, it will do work. Ratchet moving parts wear out but unless you are beating it with a hammer or using an impact wrench on a chrome socket, most all will last for a good long while. I have some wrenches and sockets that are close to 100 years old, they are ugly and their cosmetics would make Snap On aficionados weep crocodile tears. But they have done Work, probably more than the "pretty" brands have ever done.
