With a $200MM budget the Chief wants another $273K to replace 900 older .40 pistols with new 9mm models.
Add to that spare ammo, magazines and training, this is going to be expensive.

Looks like we may see a nice number of Beretta .40 Cx4 pistols on the used market to help offset the $500K est. that is needed for 900 new 9mm service pistols.

I’ll never bash on the government spending money on the same thing I’d spend it on...so all I can say is “Welcome to 2020...nice of you to join us all.”

Don’t buy POS Beretta plastic and you might only NEED to replace night sights in addition to the refurb.

I have to say that in a $200MM budget, if you can’t find 0.137% to buy new guns, you need a new finance leader or to pull your head out of your a$$. Rough estimates say that their labor expense is 45% of that budget so you have $105MM for all other expenses every year.

Additionally, from a financial perspective, they should be planning for replacement durable equipment (vehicles, guns, etc) by “saving” a little bit each year.

I like the part about how they have become unreliable so they're going to trade them in on new guns. That's just what I want is a police trade-in that's unreliable.

This is lame. From CA I was expecting some sort of "gun exchange" like they do needle exchanges. Get all the gangbangers to bring in their old worn out dangerous guns that might go off accidentally (I hear guns do that) and trade them in for nice clean safe guns.

They also want more money for patrol cars. ;)

Fresno CA ... Commiefornia!!! ... I’d expect PD’s there to destroy their old firearms rather than allow them back on the street in civilian hands ... think of the children and that would justify burn the taxpayers money.

And they were given $5M. Again, piss-poor financial management based on the snippets we're seeing, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that these Kali Libs are squandering their dollars on silly stuff every day.

They should just sell them to the citizens (I know...). But, think about it. The taxpayers bought them the guns, sell them back to the taxpayers. That would be the first actual gun "buyback" in history.

Our local city governments are as bad about spending money as those in California. The company I work for deals with a few city governments in Wake county. Every December they are calling us trying to buy equipment to use the rest of their budget. The reasoning is always the same that if they don’t spend it this year they won’t get it in the next. Always trying to grow their budget instead of saving money when and where they can.

I have a PX4 in 40 and a CX4 in 40 and have never had an issue with either. I've never heard of any reliability issues with either either. Either :D they are complete klutzs or are just manufacturing problems to get new guns.

Can't say I'm happy to hear that the market will soon be flooded and mine's value depreciated accordingly.

Once I got past the looks of the PX4 I've grown to like it a lot! It tames 40 really well, although I've shot a lot of 40 in Glocks with no issues.

I’m surprised they carry guns. Figured it would be whistles and stern looks.
