Virginia capital area gun ban and state of emergency

Here's why GOA will get my money over the NRA every time.
Agreed! I hate the constant “the sky is falling” scare marketing that the NRA does and therefore they don’t get anything from me beyond my full priced life membership from years ago.

This is a very real threat and GOA didn’t waste even 24hr taking action. Therefore I didn’t hesitate to throw them $20 and sharing it here to hopefully encourage others to do the same.

I simply don’t understand how any literate judge can deny the injunction given their 2012 law. It can’t be any more clear without law makers having had a crystal ball to spell out the time and place of the event. Insanity...!

If the supreme law of the land does not matter to these folks, I can assure you a GS of Virginia means even less to them.

I actually think it’s the opposite. They themselves didn’t write the constitution. They did write/vote for the VA laws. It shouldn’t be that way but that’s what I feel is reality.

Keep paying attention. The tyrants in black are still statist tyrants. Remember too that ultimately the power, what is right and wrong lies with The People NOT the courts. I will also say that based on the fact that this should be intuitively obvious and this idiot still denied it, that this idiot "judge" needs to go.

An emergency appeal was filed to the VA Supreme Court this evening. I have no idea if they will hear it/rule.

VA .gov is dealing with a constituency that's already pissed off over the proposed laws. Compound that with the fact a Circuit Court Judge issued a verdict that was in direct contravention of Virginia law (a law that Northam supported while he was a state senator). Should the SC of VA uphold that verdict, now, you are dealing with folks who are angered even more over further restriction of their RTKBA on Monday and many will, no doubt, choose the course of civil disobedience. Personally, I believe this verdict may have spurred some to carry...some who had originally planned on attending the event unarmed.

Monday carries with it the potential to go south in a major way and I hope to God that does not happen.

Days before Virginia gun rally, FBI arrests 3 alleged white supremacists
The three suspects have been under FBI surveillance for months, officials said, and agents made their move ahead of a gun rights rally in Virginia next week.
Three suspected members of a white supremacist group face federal charges after the FBI apprehended them days before a gun rights rally in Virginia’s capital next week, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

The suspects are allegedly part of a fringe group known as The Base, and law enforcement officials say the timing of their arrests is related to the event in Richmond, which the men planned to attend. On Wednesday, Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency after receiving "credible intelligence" that armed militias and hate groups are expected to be present — increasing the potential for civil unrest at a gathering expected to draw thousands.

Law enforcement officials say the men have been under FBI surveillance for months, and agents made their move since Monday is also a federal holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Two of the suspects — Brian Lemley, Jr., 33, of Elkton, Maryland, and Newark, Delaware; and William Bilbrough IV, 19, of Denton, Maryland — were charged with transporting and harboring aliens and conspiring to do so, according to the complaint. In addition, Lemley was charged with transporting a machine gun and disposing of a firearm and ammunition to an alien unlawfully present in the United States.

That person was identified as Canadian national Patrik Mathews, 27, allegedly a main recruiter for The Base. He was charged with being an alien in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He and Lemley were also charged with transporting a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony.

Trust these folks at your own risk. Based on their track record I wouldn't want them within a mile of the place, regardless of intentions.

Meh, will go back to business as usual afterwards. Its a matter of practicality. Democracy and communism have fought a common greater evil once before...followed by decades long Tom and Jerry style antics and proxy wars for few decades.

Few random thoughts/questions....

(1) now that the threat has been extinguished, is the ban being lifted?

(2) Did VA governor interfere with FBI investigation by extorting them w/ political pressure? Yes, I realize this sounds a bit Alex Jones-esque as I type it...but seriously (to some extent) it sounds to me like the FBI just botched a multi-month investigation. They had an opportunity to build a case against some legitimate POS and if they are predicating the case on their planning to exercise their inalienable right to peaceful protest (it didn't sound like any of their criminal activity was actually related to the event)? That appears to have made the case for these scumbags and the scumbag lawyers that represent them a whole lot easier to dismiss as it's not only NOT illegal to attend a protest, but a protected right. Dare I say --and a true testament to the backwards ways of our times--did the FBI just create a 'discrimination lawsuit case' for a fu&*ing white supremacist group? lol. Its only Jan and that could already be epic fail of the year.and the taxpayers will get to fund it to boot.

(3) is this not the most pathetic display of trying to mislead the public into a race-based perception where they can paint attendees (or at least associate through collective memory) as 'racist nazi scum'? I mean, 3 people? WTF? if 100,000 (one hundred THOUSAND people) potentially show up, statistically, there's likely to be more murderers and drug lords at this rally. More domestic abusers. More blah, more blah, more blah...Its such an unusual specificity of such insignificant composition of the broader population that there is no other valid conclusion to be drawn than this is to deliberately taint the perception of the rally.

I posted this elsewhere when it came out that they’re playing the white supremacy boogeyman.

Oh, lookie lookie ... white supremacists. How quaint. And expected. If there is one thing these left-tards aren't, it's imaginative. They're still using their "racist" tool.

The case shows how difficult it is for the F.B.I. and prosecutors to charge domestic terrorism suspects because First and Second Amendment concerns have limited the scope of what law enforcement can do. The current domestic terrorism statute does not carry any criminal penalties.

Ah, so that is what they're after. Of course, the article says they manufactured an "assault rifle" and bought 1,500 rounds of ammunition and a ballistic vest. upload_2020-1-16_19-22-22.gif

Oh....so now they're going to use "illegal/unlawful alien", instead of "undocumented immigrant"?

F* the media.

It's a guy named Patrick, from Canada. Of course he's an illegal alien. He's the wrong color and flavor to qualify for undocumented.

Only thing left to do is shut down the cell towers and the internet so only one side of the event can be broadcast comrade.
You-know I've thought about this.
Everyone seems to think you just shut off the switch, and besides us, everyone else would be ok with it.
Do you realize how much business/commerce/advertising would lose their tail if GovCo actually did that? Sure, who cares about the crazy gun guys. But when Amazon, Wal Mart, Facebook, left-wing propaganda, and the local florist come in at full warp drive to the state house...that ---- would get turned back on in about 10 minutes.
If The Powers did that, my bet it would be once, and not for long. The deep pockets would be in Washington demanding that it never happen again, and the lap dogs would rush through legislation prohibiting it.

National File reported:

In his Wednesday news conference, Northam said “We have received credible intelligence from our law enforcement agencies of threats of violence surrounding the demonstration planned for Monday.”

He added, “This includes extremist rhetoric similar to what has been seen before major incidents, such as Charlottesville in 2017.”

Northam claims these threats include suggestions of “storming” the Capitol.

“Based on these threats, I am declaring a state of emergency in Richmond from Friday evening until Tuesday evening,” said Northam.

Despite widely publicized claims from state officials that no specific threats have been received or identified, Governor Northam disagrees and has joined fellow Democrats and anti-gun advocacy groups in painting 2nd Amendment activists as white supremacists, and an inherent threat to the safety of Virginians.

“Three years ago, Virginia and the nation, watched horrified as civil protest was marred by violence and hate,” said reads Northam’s Executive Order 41, comparing Lobby Day attendees to murderers. “We lost three Virginians. We must take all precautions to prevent that from ever happening again.”

The order goes on to claim that a “substantial number of these demonstrators are expected to come from outside the Commonwealth,” a talking point that has become extremely popular among anti-gun Democrats, as the Northam administration attempts to minimize the massive grassroots network that has popped up in Virginia, seemingly overnight, and has led to over 90% of the state’s counties voting to declare themselves “Second Amendment sanctuaries.”

In addition to banning firearms, Executive Order Forty-One bans scissors, toy guns, glass bottles, and a laundry list of household items and sports equipment from the grounds of the State Capitol.

While Northam’s emergency declaration claims authority via Section 44-146 of the Code of Virginia, that section makes abundantly clear that what the Governor seems to be illegal.

“Nothing in this chapter is to be construed to: Empower the governor, any political subdivision, or any other governmental authority to in any way limit or prohibit the rights of the people to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by Article I, Section 13 of the Constitution of Virginia, or the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States,” reads Section 44-146.15 of Virginia’s code.

Additionally, the code forbids the prohibition of “the otherwise lawful possession, carrying, transportation, sale, or transfer of firearms” under a state of emergency declaration.

Northam’s racist yearbook photos were famously exposed last year by National File Senior Reporter Patrick Howley, who uncovered the photos of Northam wearing either blackface or Ku Klux Klan robes.

Should Northam be challenged on his gun ban, he may have a legal battle on his hands.

Tyranny plain and simple. And the Virginia state motto tells Virginians what to do and the seal illustrates it

And he's calling us white supremacist?????
I sure hope people take the initiative to print that picture out in huge format and parade it around with something like "our governor" under it.

Virginia SC just denied the petition from VCDL and GOA.
