Even if you don’t live in Mecklenburg County, take a minute and send these people an email asking for Meck to be a 2A Sanctuary.

(For me, I put the 9 commissioners in the To field and the clerk, the sheriff, and the police chief in the Cc field)

See if we can blow up their inboxes for the next 24-48 hours.

If you want to pull the contact info for your county, go for it. Post it up and I’ll be glad to send an email.

I’m Cabarrus but done.
Yeah, I’m not concerned about where anybody is from.

They won’t know what county (or state, or country) [email protected] lives in...or whatever your leftover email account from college is. Matter of fact, I might go send some more from my other accounts before I log off and go to sleep.

Bump for the morning crowd. Please give Meck Co a couple minutes of your time today, regardless of where you live.

I know at least from my iPhone, I can copy the list of emails above it paste it into the To field and it recognizes all of them once I hit enter. Shouldn’t take you long at all.

Will do in a few. I am going to try and find the same info for Buncombe Co and post it here. They meet to discuss in February.

Please don't publish my email address like this.

Done, but I also doubt it will happen here in Mecklenburg.

Someone started a Make Johnston County a 2nd A sanctuary page on FB. It grew to over 5000 members in less than TWO DAYS.

Wake County is easy:

You can't e-mail the sheriff directly; you have to do it through an online form. Not that there's much point in asking him anyway. I didn't include Raleigh PD Chief for the same reason, plus I'd rather focus on the county as a whole.

It would be "interesting" to start a campaign in counties like Wake, where you know there's no chance, just to see what kind of "conversation" we could open. Besides, some Wake commissioners might (and certainly should) be open to a little friendly persuasion.

I attached a copy of my e-mail.

To whom it may concern:

In light of recent developments in Virginia and a growing number of counties in North Carolina, I would like to petition Wake County's Commissioners to introduce and vote on a resolution to make Wake County a sanctuary county where the rights of citizens are guaranteed by county government, and specifically the right to defense of self and others.

A number of counties are focusing on the citizens' right to keep and bear arms by establishing their counties as "Second Amendment Sanctuaries". I would like to see Wake County join those counties and assert that neither state nor federal attempts to curtail our liberty will be aided -- and in fact will be actively opposed -- by county government.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am petitioning on my own behalf as a county citizen, and not on the behalf of any organization.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ain't gonna happen in Watauga County either(App State sucks!), but I believe Ashe is up for a vote today.

It'd still be nice to force them to openly oppose citizen self-defense though, wouldn't it?

Here's the email I just sent:

To whom this may concern,

I am a concerned citizen alarmed by governmental overreach at the state and federal level. It would seem that elected officials may have forgotten who they serve, where they are in history, and how they arrived there. I am especially alarmed at the situation in the neighboring state of Virginia where a radical agenda by Governor Northam and his supporters in the state legislature have proposed draconian bills aimed at curtailing basic human rights as outlined in the US Constitution, specifically the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms. This is the very reason WHY the founding fathers of our nation wrote this Amendment 2 in 1791 so that a tyrannical local state or federal government would not be able to disarm any or all of its citizens.

Please consider the growing movement nationwide and make Mecklenburg county a 2nd Amendment sanctuary to protect this important human right from overreach.

Regards,

Sorry to make you feel a little less special, but I got a reply from her this morning as well. I mentioned UNCC in my note so she added “go Niners” in her reply. Shows that she actually read the message which is nice.

I got a reply from the same person for the email I sent from a different account. That one addressed me by name at least. :D

And I’m still special. Mama said so.

Pat Cotham voted for Bernie as a superdelegate in 2016.........however, at 69 years of age she ain't going any further in state or local government. On THIS Mecklenburg commission, she is one of the LEAST despicable democrats.

But I would have just replied "OK BOOMER!" to her email ;)

There’s not much comforting about reading the bios of anybody on the board. :D

At least she's not a Farrakhan follower like George Dunlap or a clueless DNC shill like Leake and Fuller.

The good thing is Harden wont be running for 2020 so maybe Districts 5 and 6 can break the blue stranglehold that current exists

Anyone can feel free to send one to my county as well. Good ol Cumberland. Doubt it'll move but it's worth a try.

I've sent out some love y'all's way too. Hope and change y'all
Got a reply:

Hi Greg,

You’re talking to the most patriotic county in the USA, home of Ft. Bragg and the 82nd Airborne. We are not in danger of anyone coming after our guns!

Best,

Marshall Faircloth, Chairman
Cumberland County Commissioners

I've not gotten a response yet. That's a good political response you got though!

Bump. Send an email if you haven’t.

And if you have, forward that one with an additional comment. I’ve been sending one a week, and attaching the current map from the big thread.

Doesn’t matter if you live in Meck or not, don’t let this off this easy.

Done.

May also be worth mentioning in your email that Mecklenberg County doesn't seem to have an issue being a sanctuary for those here illegally....

Sheriffs in Mecklenburg and Wake counties were swept into office last fall promising to pull out of the 287(g) program, a voluntary partnership in which deputies effectively worked as ICE officers. The sheriffs stopped honoring immigration detainers to hold inmates for up to 48 hours after they have completed their sentences or posted bond, so that federal agents can pick them up.

Friday, McFadden’s office said the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s Office “will always follow the law.”

“Unless the law changes, Sheriff McFadden will continue to exercise the constitutional authority of his elected Office and will not honor immigration detainers,” said Chief Deputy Rodney Collins in a statement.

In the past, McFadden’s office has accused lawmakers of “strong-arming” and “bullying” sheriffs.

In a statement this summer, it said, “Any attempt to force Sheriffs nationwide to detain individuals for (ICE) will not only negatively impact public safety in Mecklenburg County . . . it will significantly erode the authority of all duly elected Sheriffs.”

McFadden has said programs like 287(g) endanger public safety by making immigrants less willing to cooperate with law enforcement. He has cited appeals court rulings that say detainers violate the 4th Amendment and his policy creates more trust with immigrants, according to previous Charlotte Observer reporting.

Oh, I have quite a few things I’d like to say. But I’ve held off to keep it calm and respectful for the first few emails. The sanctuary for illegals is definitely on the list.

But that mindset probably won’t last for me...

Done! Here is a quick draft if any wants to cut & paste:

Dear Sirs & Madams:

As a taxpayer & law-abiding citizen of Mecklenburg County, I am writing you to vote ‘Yes’ in support of 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Status. Chief Putnam & Sheriff McFadden, I am writing you to request that you support and defend the 2nd Amendment & Constitution as sworn to in the oath of office.

Sincerely,

Y’all should send a follow up to Meck, and include this image. :D
