I am not a NY Yankee fan by any means, but; I was quite surprised when Jeter was not unanimously voted into the hall of fame. Only 99.7%!
Mariano Rivera is the only unanimous recipient.

I want to see some of the less interesting sports spiced up a bit by combining them with skeet/trap shooting at the departing balls. Fly balls only obviously. How about have a couple of shooters down the foul lines? Or golf with shooters just off the tee? Sure make them worth watching then.Best thing about baseball is the touchdowns!
Until Pete Rose and *Joe Jackson are inducted I don’t care about anyone else.
* still a little torn because he took the money but he had a great WS
Someone name me a HOF of any sport or any entity that hasn't become an entitlement.
Don't you rain on my grumpiness with facts, damn you. Stick with my agenda here!As of 2018, there were only 222 members of the Baseball HOF, fewer than 2% of eligible players. That's pretty exclusive in my opinion.
MLB was founded in 1903, so that averages out right at 1.9 players per year being elected.
That's exactly why I stopped watching. That and the teams became only teams by name and not players.I loved baseball, watched it all the time with my grandpa. But the 94-95 strike killed it for me. Now the only games I see is one or two of the World Series.
All I saw was no baseball. None. So I was done. They didn't want to play so I could watch. I stopped watching. I lost interest. Boo hoo, they didn't get what they wanted to go with the millions they were making already. They can cry me a river. Play ball for your fans so they can watch you play.I don't understand why people abandon something because people stood up for themselves. They went on strike because owners decided to withhold $7.8 million that they were required to pay per previous agreement into the players' pension and benefit plans.
To each their own...... not all make millions, but I agree they all get paid well to play a game once they make it to the bigs. They also play for well less than minimum wage, sometimes for years, for a chance to play for others to watch. All I saw was no baseball. None. So I was done. I understand that. And for the most part agree. But children do not understand this and if I were a player in that exact situation, I wouldn't have stopped playing. That's just me though. At the time it happened I wasn't a grown up yet so I didn't get it. All I knew is that I didn't have baseball to watch anymore. Grown ups kinda ruin stuff for kids all the time.To each their own...... not all make millions, but I agree they all get paid well to play a game once they make it to the bigs. Personally, I do not expect anyone to be shafted by their employers just to entertain me. I applaud them for having the balls to stand up to the billionaire owners who saw fit to piss on a labor agreement that they had previously agreed to.

It takes 75% of the voters to put someone in the hall of fame.
And who are the voters?
The Baseball Writer's Association of America. That's right, a bunch of baseball sports journalists, "writers with 10 continuous years of membership in the BBWAA, plus active BBWAA membership at any time in the preceding 10 years".
I read how some people are upset or aghast that Jeter wasn't inducted with 100% voting for him and all I can think is that SOME people just GOTTA have something to b*tch about.
Not only that, they want to know who that ONE person was...and presumably so they can make his/her life an absolute hell for being the ONE person out of 397 who DARED not to vote for Jeter.
By any measure, Derek Jeter made it into the Baseball Hall of Fame by a rock-solid landslide, WAY above the minimum number of votes required. And deservedly so.
The people p*ssed off about this could take a lesson in good sportsmanship from Derek himself:
“Well, I look at all the votes I got,’’ Jeter said. “Do you know how hard it is to get that many people to agree on anything? It takes a lot of votes to get elected into the Hall of Fame."
Remember the Garbage Pale Kids? That picture looks like a grown up version if one.
There was a day when EVERYONE didn't know immediately how many votes someone got or didn't get. You had to wait to read who got in when the newspaper came the next day. No one questioned whether it was unanimous or not, mainly because that didn't change the way anyone felt about the players earning the honor. The only percentage that was important was 75%. Somehow, now, some feel that if a player doesn't get all the votes, somehow they are being robbed and the one that got in by 6 votes was less deserving. Fact of the matter, the baseball careers have all been over for 5 years by the time they are eligible and have to meet criteria to even get on the ballot. The measure of a ball player is not how many votes he got, but whether or not he got enough. After all, who is more content: the man with 10 kids, or the man with a million dollars? I'd wager it's the man with ten kids because he doesn't want anymore. In other words, there are guns I'd like to have that may or may not be within reach, either by price or availability. Would I love to have one rated at 100%? Sure! Would I be happy with one rated at 97%? You bet your A**!
