I'm guessing Virginia senate didn't understand lobby day

Consider me shocked...shocked I say...politicians that don't listen to the people. Its completely unheard of. I am absolutely flabbergasted and flummoxed...callin in sick the rest of the day to get over my surprise.

They understood it, they just know it doesn't change the fact that they're in control. Once you're in the minority, you do not matter to those who are not.

Follow the money, not the pitchforks and guns. Ironically, our best defense would be to [financially] back pro-gun democrats when the Right is an imminent loss. But that is obviously a myopic, single-issue approach plight with numerous other problems.

Sad to say, but Monday was the dress rehearsal.

well considering 90+ counties passed 2A resolutions........I guess the test will be at the local level.
I got a feeling that if I ran into these sanctuary sheriffs with a SBR with a 3rd hold clothes hanger and homemade suppressor all that talk of being pro 2A would fly out the window.

I certainly wouldn’t want to be the first guy to try it, that’s for sure.

Don't you remember Nancy Pelosi's gavel walk through protestors when they signed Obamacare?

did the assault weapons ban not pass? while red flag stuff is patriot-act crazy, AWB would be huge win still...

It’s almost surprising Soros, Bloomberg, etc aren’t targeted. They truly are enemies of the state and Constitution.

Yet the gun hating non-liberty loving dems are the type that try to take out conservatives. Like a bunch of congressmen playing baseball, Unibomber, etc, etc.

I sincerely hope...pray...that it does not come to pass, but day by day it becomes more and more apparent that the only way to preserve our liberty will be a contest of arms.

they pulled it last week before the rally on Monday, after the NRA did their 'mini' Rally the precending Monday.

Phewww. close call. that's good to hear. Holy crap I was nervous about that one in VA. Don't need any more momentum for AWBs to energize others looking to go that route.

Guess we're going to see if declaring your county a 2A sanctuary really means anything.

Most of the "where do we go from here (lobby day)" articles I have seen discuss the need to focus local and find out where the local sheriff stands on not enforcing, or even better, actively defending their constituents against these unconstitutional provisions and forming militias to actively resist should the State try to enforce them.

Does anyone suppose this is a deal made with the NRA.
Drop AWB and we'll look the other way on red flagging anyone who shows up at the protest.

Here's an article from the website of WFAE which is a radio station here in Charlotte. It's also an NPR station so I didn't expect much fairness but it's actually pretty good
https://www.wfae.org/post/2nd-amendment-sanctuary-movement-rise-nc

They said the Meck Co. resolution probably won't be able to gather steam....

"But another of Mecklenburg’s neighbors, Gaston County, will vote on a resolution Jan. 28. Commission Chairman Tracy Philbeck says he was contacted by Second Amendment sanctuary groups that requested the measure, which he calls “largely symbolic” for now.

“I think it’s a good opportunity again to let the citizens know, regardless of who’s in Raleigh or who’s in Washington, on a local level, if it’s unconstitutional and if it infringes on that right, we’re not going to enforce that,” Philbeck told WFAE.

Gaston’s resolution says “criminal misuse of firearms is not a reason to infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens” and that public money, resources, employees or facilities won’t be used to enforce any “unnecessary and unconstitutional” restriction of Second Amendment rights."

"“I wouldn’t just rest on that because right now that’s what we’re saying, but if we have to, we’ll act on it in a very actionable and demonstrative way,” Philbeck said. He added that action could mean denying funds to county agencies that choose to enforce a gun-control measure viewed by the commission as unconstitutional."

Like I said previously, who's going to enforce it if they're opposed by their employees on the County commission?

The State will need to form their own Firearms Gestapo (or employ the ones they've already go) and that will get really old really quick. Better get some of that Federal funding for something better than Level III-A and Bearcats that have fireproof insulation.

Free speech in Virginia just died.

Literally.
https://nationalfile.com/virginia-d...legislation-to-make-criticizing-them-illegal/

After the Senate approved a series of gun control measures, the Democrat-led Virginia State House is now pushing legislation that will make it a Class 1 Misdemeanor to criticize the government with the ability for Richmond authorities to charge any citizen of the state with the crime.

The bill, titled “HB 1627 Threats and harassment of certain officials and property; venue,” would make it a crime for citizens to offer “harassment by computer,” and allow Richmond police to pursue such crimes anywhere in the state

Probably the same kind of people that have been enforcing it in MD, FL, and other states so far....cops just "doin their jobs"
That is why it is important for people to be focusing their efforts locally. Work with your local sheriff and find out where they stand. Will they refuse to assist the state with a confiscation attempt? Will they actively resist and defend their constituents? Are they willing to deputize qualified local people to bypass state "laws"? And so forth. If they aren't really on the side of the 2nd and fall into the "I support the 2nd, but ..." category then the people know who they need to replace and why.

Agree100%

Could have had 25 million people surrounding Virginia’s capital for a full week and they would have still pushed this through. Sadly there is probably only one way to fix this. Hopefully the residents obey nothing and the police do nothing about it.
