I voted for the tactician, but I really identify with him at the end. I like hunting, competing, collecting, and the need to defend against tyranny. The only reason I actually clicked a specific one is because of his comment on the preservation of a free state. Without that, the others don't exist either.

A little of all of those.
I collect to past on to my kids and G-kids so they'll have guns.
I hunt to enjoy the outdoors, the chase and the good eating after a successful hunt.
I want to be "tactical" in case I need to be.
I only "compete" with friends as in "I shoot better than you bro, stand back and watch."

He is totally correct in that we all need each other.
So I picked tactical, because that is the one that just may end up being the one I need to save the others.

The hunter should be named The Fudd. I don't know anyone under 60 who is still one of those.
And this is an example of what Noir was talking about. There is no need to pigeonhole gun owners into categories, it's counterproductive. We are all gun owners and we all need to stick together.

I've been told multiple times on my own range that nobody needs an AR because it's not a hunting rifle, even though I have killed deer with one and showed him the benefits. If he wasn't family he wouldn't be invited back.

Let me see, where do I stand, in what camp??

I guess I could be a collector, I do have guns I've bought but never fired.
I suppose I could be a tactical guy since I train to my personal goals with a variety of weapons.
I know I'm a hunter since I spend a LARGE portion of my time chasing birds in a LOT of states and places.
I'm also a competitor since I devote a ton of time and money shooting competitions.

I guess what it boils down to is that I'm a GUN OWNER and support ALL of the disciplines.

Ok Boomer. Fudd. Whatever.

Too soon? :D

You dont have to invite family back, my brother is never invited allowed back to where I live.

A buddy of mine who has his CHP and has several guns told me that no one needed an AR15 with 30 round mags. He also has a souped up Mustang. I told him that speed kills and no one needs a car that goes that fast. He hasn't said anything about AR's since.

We need food shelter and sometimes clothing. I enjoy a variety of weapons used in multiple disciplines. I do not put restrictions on others behavior unless it directly affects me or my family. Please afford me the same.

somewhere between collector and tactician. Yes, I have more guns than I "need" and years go by before I shoot some of them. Some may have never been fired. I had my garand for a decade before it fired its first shot since the 40s. I'll buy a broken gun just to have a personal reason to read up on the history.
But I also like to have guns because threats are real. And while I haven't been forced to shoot anybody, I very much know what it's like to defensively settle my sights on people. I would likely be dead if I hadn't had a gun handy on at least 2 occasions. maybe 4+.
This is the reason I now enjoy a large yard, few neighbors, and security cameras.

Ha, he said let my voice be your voice.
I didn’t see him in VA Monday, and he so gracefully plugged his merchandise in the end.

not enough choices in that pole

I think we all share the defensive aspect, the protective means and all that. I've been around, seen way too much bad stuff. I carry everyday.

But the statement I relate to most is when he comes in as 'moderator' and says ya-know..a lot of folks do this because it's fun. For me, that ties for first place with the protection abilities. I enjoy the fun part as much as anything. I don't have many safe queens, but a few (a pair of unfired sequential # security six's come to mind) and now & again I'll pull them out to admire. It's pleasing to just think about how I got them, how they've remained unmolested for 40 some years..just a fun thing to do, even for a gun that doesn't get fired.

I like gun magazines, the kind you read. But I hate 90% of the ads. They always show some hard ass bad ass and his-her handgun/hunting rifle/black rifle and how with this product you are an unstoppable force within the world. Step the eff back because you are a bad mutha now.

I believe that most folks are like me. They mainly enjoy the fun aspect..developing skills, target work, reloading to perfection...being outdoors. It's a zen thing. I'd love to see the industry get away from the divisive/categorizing hyper-machismo crap and get back to the fun part of firearms like they did in the Sears catalog in 1958, because some things truly never change.

Since when does the government of a free country determine the people's needs?

BTW, there needs to be another poll option, "all of the above".

I tried to vote for gun toting bullet casting handloading tactical competition shooting preacher...but I didn't see that as a choice.

Into guns for several reasons.

But mostly fun/competition. If there wasn't that, I would own a gun or two (on principle) but be entirely uninterested in them as a hobby.

competition?
so you get those extremely modified guns that have dangerously light triggers to make you shoot faster, enhanced sighting systems to make them more deadly at long distance, and extended magazines so you can kill more kids when you finally snap? No civilians should have access to those kind of assault pistols!

Yes. Precisely those ones.

Only I use cop killer bullets, too. Because they work on kids, as well.

Let me see if my facts are correct, a GUN is designed to fire a BULLET when the TRIGGER is pulled, right?? If I were blind could I tell the difference between a bullet fired from a Remington 700 compared to an AR 15?? I seriously doubt it, both would be a very loud noise. So why is the AR inherently more "deadly" than the 700 Rem?? Same reason people eat with their eyes before they eat with their mouth, LOOKS.....
The AR has features that obviously LOOK more scary than other guns, looks are only skin deep, they BOTH serve the same purpose....

I’ve never understood the division in gun owners while the left is united against all guns. Alienating even our own calling hunters FUDDs, DemoRats, Rambo, etc... The bottom line is the push was once against guns that resemble military weapons but it has morphed into any semi auto whether rifle or handgun. Gun owners are one of the least united groups. Gun owners have yet to realize they need organized leadership. They will eat their own (see GRNC). Much like a Baptist Church, piss one off and they run down to a strip mall and start their own club.

This is a great video. Concise, simple and gets its point across nicely. Gun folks are harder on each other than on any other community in which I'm a part. There's a level of divisiveness I rarely see outside of it. And it's always the same tired arguments, for the same tired reasons. I think there's a desire to be "right" in the community about what the best way to do X is, that we let ourselves lose track of the real points. Gun ownership, for preservation of a free state. Gun use, for maintenance of skills and the fun it provides. Gun history, for the appreciation and satisfaction of how we got here, where we are now, and where the gun industry might be in years to come. It's okay to have different levels of interest in specific elements of gun culture. You don't have to push your side. In the end, all we've got is each other.

I think the reason people call out Fudds and hate on them is because they are willing to sell out the other gun owners since they don't see themselves as having a dog in the fight. They are an enemy within of sorts. They can't leave the others to their own devices, and will actively sell them out to keep their side by side shotgun safe.

This!!!!!

I actively support all types and I expect them to do the same. Sadly that doesn’t always happen and it’s so frustrating that’s it’s almost infuriating. You just want to scream, “why can’t you’re see that you’re next??!!”

I guess I’m a tactician, but mostly I just enjoy shooting. I hunt (rarely) because I like shooting. I collect because I like shooting. I compete because I like shooting and it’s great practice. I most enjoy modern tactical weapons and practical defensive weapons.
