Apparently this is true. Several agencies and social media are lit up with it.

RIP young fella. Not a basketball fan by any means, but I know you are one of the greatest to ever play the game.

He was 41. You never know when your number is up....

Fire onboard his private helicopter. No survivors.

Wow. Hate to hear this. Again, not a huge fan or basketball or the prima donnas it produces, but seems like a horrid way to go.

That's a shame because it would be a terrible way to go, and way too young!

I've got over 2100 helicopter hours and thought about it many times.

Not a basketball fan, but he was one of the greats.
I hope he, and the others, didnt suffer too long
I feel for his family, friends, and fans around the world who care about him.

Sorry to see anyone die this way, but it will be fine with me if I never set foot in a helicopter

He raped a 19 year old.

Don’t really care that he died in a crash, I do feel for his daughter and others on board.

I think there was more to the story than rape. I don't know that any of the details ever truly came out. But yeah same here I'm not shedding any tears. I do remember him buying his wife like a 4-5 million dollar ring afterwards to apologize to her. So I can only imagine what the victim got.

You ever notice it's always helicopters?
Even in the military.

The one helicopter crash that sticks with me is Stevie Ray Vaughan. I can't think about that and listen to Little Wing at the same time. About cracks me up.

People with notoriety that get taken suddenly, it leaves a big wave.

She dropped the criminal case in favor of a civil case, but he had to agree to make this statement as part of the criminal case being dropped:

After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter.

Like many of you, I’m not a basketball fan at all and don’t really care for Kobe as a person, but that’s some pretty bad news. The worst part is that his daughter was with him! Best wishes to his family.

I have always thought that it was probably a situation where she said no to Butt stuff and he didn't stop when she said no.

MSNBC liberal trash just used the n-word, live, reporting on his death.

To clarify, she says she jumbled a couple words together, and if you watch the video it's believable... however just imagine if Fox did the same or claimed the same.

Kobe could have been a Hornet. Idiots drafted him and traded him to the Lakers for Vlade Divak.

Kobi refused to play for the hornets or in his words a nothing team like the hornets.
He informed the hornets he'd set out a year rather than play for them. He gave the hornets a list of teams he would play for and left the hornets to work a deal .
Even at 18 he was a legend in his on mind.

It's a real shame, he was the best player of his generation. It is even worse that his daughter died with him. I was really looking forward to him laughing at that D-bag LeBron when he fails to win the championship this year.

Very bad way to go if they were at a significant altitude. The massive adrenaline rush coupled with overwhelming mental terror makes it a very bad day for all the souls onboard.

I couldn't care less about the basketball player myself because I'm not a basketball fan nor a Kobe Bryant fan.

That said, it doesn't change the fact that it was a very bad day for all flying in that helicopter.

Typically helicopter crashes happen at lower altitudes. Helicopters are very safe at higher altitudes where the pilot has time to autorotate if they lose engine power.

Funny how 15 years makes people forget. Today everyone is posting how great he was as a player, person, etc but 15 years back a lot of people, including many who are today praising him, where ready to hang him over that 19 year old he supposedly raped. Funny how time, a good spin doctor and social media whitewashing can make thing go away.

Smart kid
Hornets were trash, he wanted a place with some teammates that could help him.

Besides, how many 18 year olds you meet that dont think they are something special?

I certainly agree. Your Dad's background definitely makes you a more qualified authority on such matters involving helicopters.
