Commie Rifle Pics Thread

Chinese Type 53 which is a copy of the Soviet SGM 43 in 7.62x54R. This is a door gunners/aircraft model with spade grips and AA sights. Uses the same belts of the Maxim/SGM/PKM.

@USMC6094 is that an "F" or an "FR" model? Does it have a side rail?

Unless you prefer the scout setup (which I like too, albeit with a smaller red dot), moving that optic up and behind the rear sight leaf via a side mount (like an RS Regulate or Midwest Industries mount) would likely cure the front-end heft. If you want to try that but your Arsenal is a non-railed F model, check out the Master Mount if you're not familiar with it. Wonderful product that lets you affix a rail in just a few moments. Super simple to install/uninstall, not permanent - no welding, riveting, drilling, or screwing - and it holds zero.

Just a thought!

It has the side rail, I mounted the PRO forward because I like the ability to fold the stock, I could just switch out the top mount with a different one and run a smaller optic though

A windy 11 degrees outside as I type this ... with the wind chill it's a balmy -4.

What better time than now to freeze my хуй off dragging the RPK out back to play around with some black & white photography.

Seen out in the wild today traveling around Astan. Two Russian M44 Nagant carbines both with side folding bayonets still (one 1945), one DP28 with pan magazine, RPK, PKM and many AKs. One Russian AK had a Romanian foregrip. Wasn't able to get any photos for you guys. After a total of 5 full years in this place from 09-20', I finally came across my first 5.45x39 round here.

so hard to believe the 5.45 isn’t more common there. Cool you finally saw one

Forgotten Weapons did a video on this very subject few weeks ago. Couple machine guns that used Pan drums mounted on top were the Lewis Gun and Soviet DP28. Fine if vehicle/boat or aircraft mounted but a pain to carry. Hate the drum on the PPSh41 too, as you can not get a good grip on the gun and if you hold the drum you can induce stoppages. Drums on the Papasha had to be hand fitted to the gun also.

PPSh-41 is a fantastic piece to fire. One burst and you can look up at a string of brass going skyward. You are right about the drum though. The stick magazines were dev eloped for them for a reason. Thanks for sharing! ABTOMAT

That's easy - I identify one hell of a range day

Bear with me, as I'm using the stylus on my phone and I can't make out many details in your photo, but here are a few guesses:

I'm not much of a pistol guy at all, so I could go on and on. Turkish? Rugers also have their logo down mid-grip on a few of their guns IIRC.

Dragunov, if I could only choose one. Followed closely by those two milled AKs.

Hey, missed a few... dont worry, I updated for you

You never disappoint, @Combat Diver. Mixmasters or what else are you thinking? That lower fire selector marking on the Russian Type 2 looks interesting.

Love that attempt at OD green on the Chinese. Or maybe it's Rhodesian baby poop? Is the grip painted as well or is it dyed?

Speaking of olive drab, here's my SLR-104FR rocking some mean green with a somewhat-rare OD ((10)) mag. Newer "VS" version of the ol' reliable PK-01 optic sits on top; Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 2 on the side.

Might be Khyber pass copies as the rear sights don't have correct markings.

Show us how you mounted the light. I’ve thought about getting a Russian handguard with the rail on it or an RS barrel clamp rail.

Using an Echo Nine Three Mk65 light mount, drilled through the LHG. No pressure switch needed, as the push button tail is super easy to reach with my left thumb.

QFT.

So what's the story on this one? Looks great no matter what, but is it a kit build? And who makes that grip?

Yeah. It is a kit, Bulgarian built on a Childers receiver. Got it in a trade. It seems to be put together pretty well. I can only find a few minor issues.

The grip is the one that came on the PSA. Probably just looks weird because of the photo effect I was using. The optic is a PK-01V.

Gotcha, @WadeWatts. Yeah with the checkering seemingly on the back side of the grip, it almost looked like some sort of Zenitco hybrid or something new from Russia. Actually kinda cool, to have that extra texture back in the web of your thumb and index finger. Weird the photo effect would "shift" the checkering like that!

Nice rifle. How do you like the PK-01?

it works! It’s like a really heavy Aimpoint.

From Russia with love ... via Canada, where the package was confiscated by customs, opened and searched, and resealed again.

Just mounted a readily available, but rather uncommon PO 3.5x21 scope calibrated for 5.45x39 rifles. It's a honker! Kinda like having a bottle of Baltika lager up there. But the field of view is enormous, crystal clear, and the reticle is quite advanced. Like all my combloc optics, it's a beast and over-engineered to take a beating. Excited to get the VEPR out and stretch its legs a bit with this thing.

You'll have to forgive the photo quality. I can assure you the real view is much sharper than this. But here's a crappy pic with my camera - taken from my porch in this nasty rainstorm
