I've got weather alerts going off in stereo, EOC opening, schools dismissing early (because that makes sense to send kids out into this stuff rather than stay in a building that is typically built to be a weather shelter).

Anyone catch one of these tornadoes?

Looks like the bad stuff split and wet north of my location--thanks hot air from Charlotte!

Marked safe from the first round. My kid's high school was locked down, and evidently a tornado touched down up the street. Too bad he played sick at home today and he and my other son and 2 friends sheltered at my house in front of the Xbox.

They had us shelter in place at work, which consisted of me taking training on how to deal with harassment, bullying and inclement weather. We are in a windowless room full of computers so I just looked out at the people in the hallway with a smirk and then went back inside.

Yay panic.

Just lot of rain and a little thunder here. Hardly any wind at all.

Watching on the radar and the squall line is just lining up to make sure it all hits Charlotte.

Just watched a severe cell blow through our area I-77 @ Clanton rd. For about 2 minutes rain came down sideways, visibility dropped to 50 ft and power sent out. then the wind switched direction and it was gone.

Woke up to this

Ugh, I got it to finally drain and gonna dig the rest up and get new piping this weekend

We got a ton of rain, a lot of thunder, and a tremendous amount of wind gusts for about 5 to 10 minutes. Now it’s clear and drizzling.

Wife has been in a stairwell (school policy) for ~2 hours so far today.

in Novant Charlotte on Randolph street
Decided to bring the wife for her Remicade infusion
Power went out so the pump is on battery backup
Hopefully battery will last until the infusion is over which is usually 1.5 hours

Heavy winds, about three inches of rain but no twisters here. Kids sheltered in place at school. Wife's company had them evacuate to shelter somewhere in the company building. So far, so good.

AOK in the triad. Alot of rain thunder some wind, better then some parts of the state. Praying the rest of the CFF family is ok.

well got a really big pond where part of the lower pasture is, also got a barn flooded got bout 2 inches of water in most all of the hall the stalls seem to be fine so far but dang tons of water. we've had if water height is right at least 5 inches of rain

Cumberland county schools are closing one hour early and Harnett county schools are closing two hours early in effort to get everyone home before the main event gets into the sandhills.

When we got the tornado and tstorm watch I went to the top deck of our parking garage to watch the sky. Wind blowing from the south to the north, and from the west to the east all at the same time. It got very dark and in the matter of second it started raining so hard you could not see the VA hospital. There was some thunder. But it looks like the worst of it has blown through.

Its dumping bigtime in SW Raleigh.

Cats are hiding, lol.

My radio recently went nuts about a storm headed my way at 55 mph, and with hail....so far nothing has happened, but I'm betting my power will go soon.
Y'all be careful!

I was in Kannapolis for a work meeting this morning. 45 mins in to the meeting every phone in the room lit up with tornado warnings. It touched down about 5 miles away. We all sheltered in the basement until the worst was over then they cancelled and rescheduled the rest of the meeting for another day. Got home about 230.

We got off light in my Raleigh AO. I'm putting it down to clean living!
Lucky you! High winds and heavy seas out our way. We're looking at 3+ inches of rain overnight. Flash flood warning as I type.

I guess we're not living cleanly enough?

Lots of rain in Holly Springs. Friend in North Raleigh had a tree fall and do some damage (luckily not to the house).

Had tornado warning shelter in place from ~1-1:15pm at work in RTP, and ceiling started leaking during big downpour around 2pm.
Got home about 4pm to find Power out here in extreme eastern Chatham county (East side of Jordan lake). Estimated 10pm until it’s back on. At least the temperature is not hot or cold. :)
Wife just went out and filled buckets of water from the downspout to flush toilets with, since we’re on a well. If we had been home before power went out we would have filled bathtubs for this purpose.
Found some yard stuff got blown around that did not move in previous bad storms, and some of it was heavy enough that I hadn’t expected it to move.
We have a recently assembled trampoline and I’m glad I temporarily anchored it to a truck and a shed when we put it together, or I bet it would have gotten blown around during all that.
Still lots of rain going on.

Oh we got plenty of rain, creek and yard flooding, but no trees down in neighborhood and no loss of power! I've been living in the same place for 40 years; it never flooded before the !@#$%&* city permitted untold cubic yards of fill in the Crabtree Creek flood plain. Now I find fish in the back yard when the water goes down, grrr. Flood plains exist for a reason!

I can't get in my garage and a tree is down over my fence in the backyard. I'm in the Arboretum area. Lots of trees down near Rea Rd and Colony.

We lost power before 5a. Estimate for restoral was 8a. At 7:51a changed to 5p. Imagine my surprise when it came back on ~10:20a. But it was also the first time I’d used my generators to run the house. Worked great for ~6 hours.

So I worked my main job from home with the generators running. Supposed to go to my part time job (two evenings a week) today, usually leave at 3:30p. I texted at 2 to say with the multiple tornado warnings and now a flash flood warning until 7p, did they need me. Yep, come on in. Pull into the parking lot at 4p, and my phone buzzes with a “stay home” text.

I like this part.

I don’t like this part

The moderator in me about had a heart attack when I mis-read the subject line as "OK everyone, Feb 6 StormFront"

I thought I'd have to be in here cleaning up some Nazi shenanigans...

"Everyone OK" is not the same as "OK everyone"

Lots of rain in Lewisville, plus some thunder, including one of those that are so close you don't have time to react to the lightning flash before the boom hits. But no damage at my house.

Punctuation fail. Forgot my question mark.

The single power line feeding my neighborhood got karate chopped by a big tree. Good thing Duke came through and butchered everyone’s trees in the name of power line protection last year.

Guy I work with lost his home today. Think he is near Ramseur somewhere. Lived in a trailer. Haven’t heard from him yet. Sent out the bat signal to see if he needs any help. Older guy with a sick, homebound wife. Hope he’s got family close by.

We are just getting rain now. Looks like no more wind. So we decided to go out for dinner.
Saw the cause of the power outage - bunch of trees down over a section of lines. Lots of power crew there working on it.
Several trees down or broken at edge of road, but none actually into the lanes.
Power is on as we are getting into Apex.

If you live near Clemmons, come down Peace Haven and check out Muddy Creek. Spilled the banks and is up near the folks' yards. Haven't seen that but 4 or 5 times in 30 years.

Just think, if it wasn’t for Greta, and climate change, this could all be snow! A nor’easter!!!

We really must have had some wind here this afternoon before I got home. In addition to the stuff I found blown around in the yard...
The walk-thru door on the chicken coop that @Armed4defense gave us is basically just chicken wire - not much wood to it. We tie it open every day using a piece of hay twine with a keychain carabiner that clips to a hasp on the side of the coop.
My wife found tonite that the wind pushed that door hard enough to stretch the carabiner open. Granted, those are not weight bearing carabiners, but I never expected that from a door that the wind can pass thru. Unless something from the yard blew and crashed into the door?
I need to check the shingles on the roof in the daylight tomorrow. We’ve had issues with them from past storms (even tho the roof is only 12 years old), so fingers crossed that we have no new issues from today.
