102 years ago today. A World War 1-Christmas truce.

My son was just reading me the story on our way back from WV. Imagine having a truce on Christmas and playing Soccer with each other and making some friendships amongst your enemy, then having to go back to killing each other under the orders of others that aren't in harms way. Pretty sobering thought right there.

Just taught WW1 before Christmas and shared this story with them
It was hard for the kids (14 and 15 year olds) to wrap their head around this - go from fighting to partying to fighting again within 36 hours.

Its a great story in history, glad to see more people sharing it!
 
There is a good movie about this called Joyeax Noel, available on Netflix.
