I've got a 3-15x50 scope, debating on selling for something like 8-32. Will be doing some competitions, and worry about trying to hit small targets/group at 300-500 with a 15.

Do you guys think it's sufficient or would I be much better off with 8-32?

.....im all for the xtra magnification......but decent vision and some practice, you can probably do better than you think.

I shot 1000 regularly with a Primary Arms 4-14X44 for a year. I have several 6-24X50 and a 8-32X50 and they are nice for spotting and testing. But honestly, I have found that when I am shooting competitions, I generally have them set at about 14-16X. If you crank up the magnification, you also increase your mirage distortion and cut your field of view. So unless you spend a lot of money for really good glass I don't know that there is much advantage to be gained by getting a higher magnification scope. If you are not going past about 500 yards, 15X should be plenty of magnification.

I have hit a 8” going 10 consecutive times at 760 on 11 power with my NF NXS. That’s very clear glass and I think u could do the same with practice.use the glass u have and if it is not enough magnification then swap it out.

15x is where I run my scopes when shooting timed events. More magnification is helpful when trying to spot hits on targets.

I'm anywhere between 10 and 15 power at the comps out to 1000. Depends on targets, distance and how many positions I have to shoot from in 90 seconds.

He op asked this question and within 36 hours listed his optic to sale. The point of the question is to justify his action. Not to know his desision is a bad one
