Well, the G19 seems to be working just fine...lol...

Took the new (and newly cleaned and lubed) Glock 19 out for its first range day this morning. I gave it 26 magazines' worth of ammo, and it handled it without a complaint!

It took me a few rounds to get the "drop in the bucket" but I did pretty well for having a new gun, and new a "style" of gun. My former instructor seemed to think I did ok.

As we all know, I have oddball eyes and have to do weird things to get the shot where I want it to go, but I think these sights are not going to have to be radically adjusted like my others have been....what a nice surprise! It's still too early to say for sure on the sights, but I think they were pretty good as is.

The recoil is what got to me last summer when I tried this gun. I just couldn't handle it, and it hurt my hand. It's a feisty gun, for sure, but I can shoot it now. I love the big boom, and the little bit of snap! And the fire coming out the front!

The trigger was fine....I'm not experienced enough to know much about a trigger, except to know I've shot some guns with really nice ones, and this one wasn't horrible. Once I got used to the little dingus in the middle of it, I forgot it was there and carried on shooting. I could feel/hear the reset, still a somewhat new concept for me.

I love the new gun, and I'm happy to finally have the one I wanted in the first place, last summer when I began the long hunt for a 9mm gun! I had to go around the block, up the alley, and around the corner, but I ended up at the G19 again. Funny how that worked out, isn't it?

I am going to try like heck to do the Battery Oaks meetup this fall. If I make it there, I still want you to shoot my Px4 compact carry (again) and tell me what you think. It just beat out the G19 when I was shopping, but I still want a G19 because of all the gear being so easy to find.

Congratulations on not breaking your new gun the first time out..:D
Dang!! That's harsh! (True, but harsh!) LOL.

The Glock took it and loved it, and it told me it can't wait for another go!! It's a beast! I love it already.....
(It wants a go at the Wizard, too!)

You know me, I love to shoot a lot of guns! You bring it, I'll shoot it.

I don't think you have to wait till the October bash to go there, either. I'm pretty sure Billy will let you in the gates if you give him a day or two notice.....

26 X 15 = 390 Nice!

It'll only get better as you become more and more familiar with the gun.
Well, I'm out of ammo now, except for a magazine, and so it'll be awhile before I can go back....sigh....but I needed to see how it would do, and it did really well. (I got the barrel really hot though. Don't need even more heat when the room is 80* already.)

Damn 8 boxes the first day. . I'm guessing no problems..Welcome to the dark side. You better start stockpiling ammo .
No problems, just a lot of good shooting! A good day.
I do need to find a great ammo deal, or I won't be shooting too much!

Congrats. Glocks and similar handguns sure do eat like pigs if you like to shoot.
You should have gotten in on those CCI/Federal/AE 1,000rd dealios when they still had the rebates going. Think I snagged a few 1K cases for $125 after rebate ;)
I did get good deals from PSA for a few thousand rounds, then had to concentrate on the gun issues.....

you Will get more ribbing on here for buying a glock but that’s only cause they have time to kill waiting for their other guns to come back from the gun smith. Good job and keep feeding her.
They can rib all they want, I'm a happy old lady with my Glock! LOL.

(As I also wait for 2 of my guns to get fixed.....ooops!)

Now you need to

Stipple it
Double undercuts
New trigger
New sites
Mag well
Slidecuts

And don’t forget the RMR AND THEN YOU ARE DONE

Lol

Guess what? I'm done already! lol.

(There is an attachment point under the barrel for a light or laser or something to go on....I guess....)

1000 rounds of Tulammo for $139.00 shipped. And now since you have a real gun (sorry, couldnt resist, lol), it will eat that steel cased ammo all day long without a hiccup. Oh, and congrats on the new 19.

Thanks for the congrats, and no problem about the ribbing....I'm sure there will be plenty! Lol.

(I do feel like I have a "real" gun and not toy guns that look pretty....but I miss the p238 and the 1911 9mm!!! I'm loving the g19 though!)

Unfortunately, my range doesn't allow steel-cased ammo....

I guess they dont like sifting through the steel cases or some other reason, because that stuff will in no way damage a range backstop. Oh well. I too have a pretty gun, a 1911 in 45, that gets shot about twice a year. It was a gift from a close friend, so I feel I have to keep it, haha (just kidding). Anyway, if you make it down to the 2nd annual M&G at Battery Oaks, you can try my 19 out thats been "mortified", topped off with a RMR. Billy is gonna have a go with it next month while I'm there also.

Billy and his "mortifications"....

As for the pretty guns, my 1911 .45 will be out of jail in a couple of weeks, and I hope to take it to B.Oaks to let Billy and the guys have a go with it before I shoot it too much and break it like I did the other 2! lol.

I'm definitely planning on making it to the 2nd M&G in October.

I'd love to try the 19, had to look up RMR, but got it now!

This one does.

@Millie, hit up @Butter for a good deal on range ammo. His is brass cased and good to go.

@Butter has some really good stuff. You cant go wrong. Save money, buy bulk!! Your new Glock will absolutely love a steady diet of it. ( So will your wallet..!)

His ammo was tested recently by one of the world-class shooters from this USPSA Super Squad.... It ran flawless. The muzzle velocities on some strings through the chronograph were only 1-3 fps apart! Did I mention that your Glock will love it?? lol

Congrats on your purchase and kudos to you for doing your due diligence and shooting several platforms before buying....!

Here ya go Millie, an all Steel, built like a tank, even you can't break it, gun!

Man, those things are fun. Hate I didn't discover 'em till after the cheap ammo dried up.

@Millie don't mess around, does she? Keep kickin' ass, girl. Super cool to watch you go from askin' questions & takin' lessons as a newb, to continuing to train & shoot like a mad woman & shooting matches.

The ammo isn't really expensive, it's relative to 40cal range ammo in price for the new non surplus stuff. Probably like $16-$19 for a box of 50 depending on brand.

It's a Springfield of some sort, I'm guessing a 5"-ish barrel....haven't seen it in a while.
I'll post a pic once it's out of jail.
But it's what Billy and the boys would call a "low end" gun, since it cost under $1,000...lol...so I may break it within a year or so. We shall see.....

The Glock wants to do a match, it's very excited about it.

Get that Glock running nice and smooth before you worry about the 45.
Well, I have a deadline to get the .45 out, so it has to be dealt with...lol.
The Glock does seem to like running thru a fair amount of ammo in a day, so we're good so far.
