1st reloading bench...dos and don'ts

another consideration can be where vents are located if you're inside, or drafts of air in the garage. It doesn't take much to throw off a sensitive scale.

this happens to me. There is a vent in the ceiling a few feet to the side of my bench, and when it's blowing air it affects the scale by more than a grain. I started closing the vent when I am using the scale.

As others have said do anchor to the wall, do build it sturdy, do have a solid work sutface, avoid hvac vents, and build it bigger than you think you will need. Do not cheap out. Build solid with quality materials and it will last a life time. Me and pops build mine, it was our last project together before he passed.

OK, here ya go.

Started on another site and I'm too tired to do anymore than copy paste. :)

Well, I got that darn tree out before I left to get stuff for making the bench.
My son moved it to the burn pile out back this afternoon.
I just couldn't take it any longer.

Then off to Lowes for bench making material.
I'm so glad Joe had this in his head how to make it...I'm not the building kind, but I guess I could have.
Though mine would not have been nearly as good as his...

Used 2x10x8' for the top and 2x4 for legs.
Maybe a 2x6 for some support.
Also used some of the decking boards to make the bottom shelf.

It's not attached to the wall, yet.
But, I'll have to see what happens when I start and if movement is an issue, then it will get bolted.
My son came over to help too, which is a good thing.

Here ya go.
42" high, 27" deep, and 8' long.

My son was making fun of me...saying I was using too much of the glue nail stuff, so I made him a smilee. :)

It was coming together and then I forgot to take any more pictures till we got it re-assembled in the "room"

All together in the room.
Maybe I need to paint it a different color....
**edit** yea, I'm gonna have to paint that room at some point.
Might have been OK for my daughter, but, for me, I need something different.

Lookin good Wolfie. Ready to see some completed rounds made on that bench.

Yea, I have to figure out where I want to mount the press and get that done while I'm off.
Have to finish cleaning some brass & getting some things done before I can start.
Also waiting on the Lee Safety Primer thingy to arrive.
