I have a Mossberg SA20 Tactical and theres a lot to like about it.
But, somehow, I dont think youre looking for a 'tactical' type shotty lol
But...if you are....

I love my Stoeger M2000

The comb on that CZ looks low for a little 12 year old face.
Does he warrant a $600 gun? I mean...is he really into it or is it just something that he thinks in a moment of fancy he wants to do only to lose interest next spring?
I got a Hatfield 20ga semi for the kids to use. What was it...$230 bucks out of wal mart. I wasn't about to let them use my Winchesters or Remingtons. And they all like it but none of them insist on having one. I have 2 Mossy 500's in 410, one is mint the other a shooter. I won't let them use the cherry one, but the lil' 410 is great for teaching pumps.
I was surprised with the Hatfield. It took awhile to cut it in... 75 rounds before it cycled correctly. But it works good now, easy to handle and shoots POA.

eta- This mirrors my experience too-

Doh!
Guess I should read the description before I spout off. Looks like the CZ has an adjustable comb.

I have had 2 CZ 920's. First was a disaster. Would not cycle anything. 3 trips back to CZ and they replaced it. New one runs like a sewing machine. They did have some issues with the 920, wood stock version. Maybe they have worked them out. Their CS was easy to deal with.

I like the CZ with the adjustable stock on it for him. He's big for a 12 yo but id like the gun to grow with him. As far as price this would be a gift from his other uncle , me and his parents so the price isn't that big of a factor. He likes guns and I would like to get him something he could start shooting some clays with to get ready for the hunters safety team in HS. I don't want to buy him a pump or a O/U I'm 100% set on a Semi auto. I will check out the Stoeger and some others thanks for the replies !

I'd buy that Benelli SS in the Classifieds right now. Love my 12 gauge SS!

Stoeger 3020 is nice but the inertia guns kick a little more than the softer shooting gas 1100 and 11-87. One of those two is where'd I'd start. Also, I'd let him be part of the decision making process. It'll take the surprise factor out of it but he'll enjoying going out with the guys to the gun shops and picking out what he likes just as much.

Remington LT 20 is THE finest semi auto you'll ever hold.

times two and A-men. I still have mine acquired in, Oh, 1974, the stock is now cut down, but it still sees regular use and works without fail.

Remington's newer weapons and quality may have gone to Hell in a handbag, but the 1100 is still handsdown one of the most reliable, well designed, semi-auto's on the market. I mean anything that you can disassemble with a rock and nail...
