Took my savage .22 to the range today, and with Aguila 40gr subsonics and 5.75mils of hold over I was able to smack what I assume was a 6" or 8" plate at 200 yards. It didn't move it much, but you could see the splash of the round hitting it. Not exactly sub MOA tack driving but super fun none the less. Gotta go again when I have more time.

The BSA "Tactical" scope is a 4-14x mil/mil FFP I grabbed on closeout at Midway for $200 a few years back and it has 7.5 mils marked on the reticle. Glass is surprisingly good, but just don't mess with the turrets. The only thing mushier are the Millet turrets on my .17HMR.

I've got one of mine set up for 200 yards with CCI standard. I can hit pretty regularly. It's got a BSA with turrets on it, but they don't really go back to position like they should. So for 300 yards I tend to just hold over. I make enough hits on the steel at 300 to feel good about it. Pretty dang fun with a .22.

Seems crazy, but my 308 sub reloads (190SMK, 7.7GR titegroup) and a CCI STD both have the same 100yd/200yd dope at 1050fps.
Great way to learn wind hold and dialing.

It takes forever and a day for a subsonic round to hit at 200yds.

We were shooting 200 yards with Bailey Boats .22 pistol that day on the range! Had to hold it a little high but it was hitting more times than not.

That does seem crazy with such a heavy bullet going so slow

Aside from "running and gunning", there's nothing more fun than shooting my FVSR @ 200yd! CCI SV, suppressed, 6" steel plate, waiting 2sec for that "ding!", I just love it!

What is the drop of 40gr at 1260 for 100 yards? Roughly with nothing else considered.

You need to quit thinking in terms of "drop". How much it "drops" is immaterial.

If you zero at 25yds, your dope is going to be vastly different than zero at 50yds.

You should quit using ammo with a speed of 1260fps too. I don't know of any super accurate high velocity ammo.

I should have realized the speed and accuracy correlation before now. Most of the listed match grade ammo is less than 1100 fps. I probably will not make this change anytime soon because I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 8,000 to 10,000 rounds of 1260 to 1400 fps ammo.

What I need for now is a scope I can actually use for 22 caliber and dial the distance for target and small game. A scope I can have confidence that it gets back to zero and easily operates. I should have bought a scope with more information, more pictures, and even more YouTube video. I'm learning the hard way- trial and error, which needless to say is somewhat expensive.

If the lighting is right, you can see the round traveling downrange thru the scope.

We went to the range again last weekend to sight in and test @seangt 's copy of my rifle. Zeroed his at 50 and then and pushed it out to 250.

I don't remember his dope, but my rifle has a 50 yard zero with CCI Quiet. With the Agrula 40gr subsonics I had with me I was -3 mils at 50, and using the bottom of the retical at 250 (so 8 mils or so).
