Here's what happening. Between 50-60mph the trans can decided if it's wants to be in 4th or 5ths Trans doesn't slip at all. It keeps changing back and forth. Once you hit 60ish it stays in overdrive. Also while the car is cold it doesn't do it.

09 Honda Fit 117k with the 5sd auto trans. Gonna be selling this in a week or 2. It started acting like this about 2 weeks ago. Btw this thing gets about 35-40 mpg

Has the fluid ever been changed, with the correct fluid?

Not that I know of. We had it over a year with o issues. I did check it,, it was maybe 1/4 at low. I did buy the 9 dollar fluid from Honda to top it off. My research says it might be some kind of valve?? That make sense?

It very well could be some kind of valve/solenoid.
But I would be willing to try a trans fluid service first.

Thanks gtown,,I think I might go that route first. Gonna be selling it anyhow. We bought her a new car for her 18th Bday/Graduation

Transfluid does wear out. It can be worn out with none of the usual symptoms of being burnt or comtaminatied this is why you change by milage not what it looks or smells like. It contains a lot of friction modifiers and lubricants that deteriorate with heat and pressure.

Get rid of that Trans fluid and get some that's straight.

Probably a pressure issue. Although it could be electronic. Cheapest option, just take it to someone you trust(or yourself), or Honda for the OEM materials, and tell them to only do a trans service - that you don't wanna hear about their deals, or that the tires will need replacing, or that the johnson rod is failing. More than likely that's all it needs; change the fluid, filter, etc. And then when you're sick of dealing with it, you can donate to it MochaJoe who needs a car. Perhaps stay at or below 50mph outside of overdrive in 3rd gear, or whatever Honda calls it. Good luck and let us know.

All good Will, I called Monday but she said you were swamped and Chris was out. Do y'all have weekend drop off?

Busy shop needs new hires. I'm almost done with school, ready to break things. I mean fix things.

Do you know if the shop two doors over is open now? What's their phone number?

The third clutch pressure switch seems to be a very common failure item on this model. I found over a hundred different examples of this in a tech forum. However none of them had your complaint. You need to scan it for trans codes. Get the code and pm me and I will look up the most common fix for it.

Will there be a code stored if the CEL isn't on.

Mech says trans is fine,, needs a mainshafy speed sensor and new plugs.
With that said who needs a really good cheap car that's auto, AC and really gets about 35 MPG

Me. I have zero cars. But school has me broker than broke. I know what'll happen, when I'm ready there won't be a single good thing available.
